supercharge

Hi is any one could give me some idea about a supercharge kit for my vee? I have taken away the A/C and hoping to put a compressor in it. Anyone has done this? Thanks.

To save you some time MikeTs post can be summed up as heat, space, belt slip, gearbox, money, more money, reliability and drivability!!

He then canned the whole idea and went turbo.

Along with Mikes previous experience, THIS thread would put me off.

Its not just a bolt on and forget about it mod, its a hole can of worms!!

there are a few charged, turbo and nitrous'd v6s out there. personally i think your barking up the wrong tree. keep the v6 standard and buy an evo or something similar if you want to go fast. It will be cheaper and less painfull!

I very much doubt that you could package a supercharger in place of your old A/C pump. If you could, the size of it would probably be so small it would add hardly anything to the 3.0l engine. Superchargers, route and screw types in particular, make lots and lots of heat and plonking that next to you exhaust manifold and fuel tank isn't the best idea in my opinion.

A few steps you would need to take;

1. Lower the engines compression ratio by either pistons or de-comp' plates.

2. New engine management system

3. Uprate the clutch as a bare minimum if at low boost. Changing the complete gearbox is a must for anything other.

4. Re engineer the cooling system ie with second radiator, charge cooler, aux water pump, oil cooler and engine bay ducting.

Nothing is impossible but does require a fair bit of work.

Rather than supercharge why not go for a big lump, go to say 3.4 litres, yes its more work but a load more reliable.

Second that - Evo 9, impreza or skyline would be a better bet. Vee isn't for outright speed jug downright posing :race:

Wish there were off the shelf sleeves and pistons to do this.
