just out driving and whilst braking the above lights have cum on. checked the manual and suggests that the brake fluid is probably low. checked it and sure enough its low, but just above minimum. manual also says i should only use renault approved fluids 2 top up. i went 2 a garage and got sum carlube DOT 4 fluid which is synthetic based. i am currently out driving around so cud sumone do me a favour and check if this brake fuid is suitable and post back so i can check back on my phone and top up. many thanks

dot 4 is fine, not sure about the synthetic claim though.... + check its not a sudden leak or you may have a problem and would advise not topping up to the max line as they are prone to leak through the cap breather and wreck your luggage tray when cornering hard. Would advise just over the min line and then keep a regular eye on the level.

Brill thanks for the advice everyone. Topped up the fluid as advised and the light has gone out and stayed out. The fluid seems to be at the same level as when I topped it up and there's no visible leaks so I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days.

Thanks again, case closed.

Have you checked your front pads as when there low thats when the light comes on.

Haven't long since got new pads on it so I was pretty sure it wasn't them....plus is wasn't a constant 'light on' situation, but more of a flickering which suggested it was associated with liquid splashing about and breakingforming an electrical circuit.
