Oh my god!

The brake and clutch pedal squeak every time i use them.. and the dash sounds like its going to rattle itself apart

Has anyone else had this before, think the squeaking is coming from the pedal box itself, not really had a look yet if im honest, thought I would ask the question and see if anyone has a cure? and the dash just rattles away in sympathy

Pisses me off because it makes me think about the whole build quality question mark in comparison to the cars ive has in the past..

Anyways it sound s**t and makes me feel like im driving around in a little tin can..

Jonny

No. Ive only has it 2weeks!

I cant understand why it would suddenly start doing it.. Probably just an unfortunate coincidence..

Yeah its not the actual build quality of the car but little things like that just make the car feel a bit cheap

Anyways, any help would be appreciated!

Jonny

Has the dash been out for any reason - dashboards are usually installed with anti squeek fittings and felt etc.

Pedals may just need some grease or oiling - sounds unusual though. Have you been in another Vee to compare ?

I have never had any issues with noises from my Vee which have concerned me or caused me concern.

Martin

Ive not been in another Vee no.. But for sure the squeaking is wrong, ill have a good look tomorrow and maybes get some WD on it.. :approve:

As for the dash, no thats not been out, not that i know about anyways.. the car has only recently had its first service.. 55 plate with 15k miles..

Perhaps you should have had someone look over the car with you before you bought it.....?? :s

As for build quality of the Vee....get the car on some ramps, or axle stands, get the engine covers off and get yourself under the car - think you'll find that's anything short of amazing build quality for the price of the car....never ceases to amaze me anyway....:D :D

Maybe ive made it sound worse than it is.. Im sure i can sort the squeak out and the rattle I will have someone look at..

I love the car dont get me wrong, its just a bit annoying..

Did you get my PM by the way Jainy?..

Jonny mine does it too. Clutch pedal squeaks and the dash makes a bit of noise too. I'm not fussed about it, but perhaps the dash is about to fall off..

My clutch pedal squeaks as well, put it down to not driving it every day and a lack of use.

Going to look at mine in the next 2 weeks while i'm on paternity leave [smilie=drunken_smilie1.gif] . If i get that chance with nappies etc etc

Ill just get a stupidly loud exhaust made and it wont bother me anymore..

I thought the pedal squeeks were standard fitment? as for the dash rattle to the right of the steeringwheel try pressing the little panel with the cruise switch, mine buzzes away all the time and I always mean to stop it but can't be bothered, you just have to embrace that renault build quality as part of the experience... arf!!

You're right, pressing that panel stops the buzz.... How do I stop it forever tho... :s

I was going to see if I can get behind and stick a dod of bluetack type stuff or a sticky foam pad/ bit of sticky back sound deadening or some windscreen bonder but as I said have not got round to it yet. you could just poke some paper or cardboard in the gap to shut it up in the mean time.
