Sports Cats

yep!

i'm going to have to fabricate up something clever for mine come MOT time, there's no way i'll be removing the manifolds once a year!

Its all about flow rate.

Sports cats are higher flow.

You can have lower density cats which would flow better but work less efficiently.

A better way is bigger diameter thus larger surface area thus reducing the restriction (for the same density).

The same can be achieved by running dual std cats in parallel (half the gas goes through one, half through the other). Think trying to blow hard through one straw (restrictive), or a whole bundle (spit across the table! ).

I'd imagine the issue is to get the required efficiency due to size contraints. Or ultimately on large solutions to get all the cats upto temp.

As the Vee is fussy over emissions (on std management) high flow cats still light the emissions light so they are pointless other than for the MOT. Full decat is thus the obvious choice. For the MOT you just have to be creative!

Cheers
Peter :D
