Speedo not working

Good this - picked up the car last night and all was well and I come out this morning to find the speedo not working! Now obviously I've been in contact with the garage where I bought the car and I'm sure it will be sorted out, but I was just wondering if anyone had had this happen and whether there is a simple cure?

Thanks
Chris

Never-ever-ever heard of that happening before :s Good thing it's under warranty! :approve:

I plan to be in for the long haul of ownership; and must admit it's the renault electricals that worry me. (Did anyone mention coils? [smilie=doubt.gif] )

Well the coils have already been done! It may just be one of those Renault quirks that will clear itself the next time I drive it.

Hmmm, speedo hope it's nothing suspicious as they are electronic and so should work OK ... Could be a faulty sensor or maybe the dash needs a reset.

You can do a basic diagnostic check and reset - check the Wiki ...

loose connection.

Wonder if diagnostics would pick it up.

Next time try a reset and let us know. See wiki

In the boot, underneath the toolbox there is the ECU and the "calculateur de speed" (or something similar). Check all the plugs are tight at this location.

weird - same thing happened to my 172 tonight!!!!
Too it out to pick up a mate and noticed the speedo was a zero. Flicked the ignition off and did the dash resetting thing so see the speedo go through it's routine and then off again - then it seemed fine. First time i have seen it do that!

Just done the reset - there was obviously something not right as it has also sorted out the high beam flash, which was sticking on and not cancelling properly.

mine did that once in leeds...i pulled over..stopped and re-started the engine..worked fine ever since...straanggge! lol

Very odd - just one of those French 'character' things!

Phil - nice location! Going to be in your neck of the woods at the end of Jan :-)

Don't forget the Wiki article also explains how to do a diangnostic check during the reset process - which is handy also ;-)
