Iow v6

New Member
Need your help fellas... Parked my v6 in the garage at 2 pm after fitting my new recaro seats this morning, in the meantime stopped and started many times. Just got back in it now, when I turn it over makes one click and doesn't even attempt to turnover. It starts if I bump it down the hill but that could become a problem for every day use?! I'm thinking solenoid or starter motor? Does anyone else have any other suggestions??? Thanks

Typical starter motor symptoms Phil... however, it is just as likely, maybe even more likely to be a bad earth bond.

Just my 2p... I've found that a 'fire up' is a huge drain on the battery. I can leave the car for weeks and it'll fire up perfectly after having been used used regularly. But if I start it up a fair number of times without any driving in between its doesnt take long before I can kill it. This trend was apparent before and after I've had a new battery and had charging checked. Just my experience though. :-)

As Dom suggests, I'd try charging the battery for a bit before looking at the other things. Never know - could simply be low battery power.

I've tested the battery it's fully charged . But I find it hard to believe that the starter motor would just stop like that .The car has only done 28000 nearly dry miles and usually thay play up a bit first.looking at it it's a pig to get to I'm hoping its just a loose wire :violin:

I had exactly the same problem, turned out to a loose earth strap. RAC man fixed it in 20mins a and was fine ever since.
