Sorting out a few issues

Im getting the following work done on the vee over the next week or so at Benfield Renault in Carlisle:

Replace front rocker cover oil vapour breather pipe (cracked)
Strip down, clean out and re-grease rear brake calipers (drivers side is sticking)
4 wheel alignment (tracking is well out)
Replace timing belt, idlers and tensioners (this has been marked as done in the service book but i'm having it done again for piece of mind)
Replace auxillary belt (running a bit noisy at the moment)

Total cost - £908 - pretty good I thought for a main dealer! I think the cambelt alone is around £1100 on the renault "quick quote" system.

WIll report back once the work has been done - I think a few folks on here have used Benfield in Carlisle before and had a positive experience.

Is that the aux belt kit?

S

All up price is for just the aux belt (part is about £20) - they're going to inspect the idlers etc and see if its worth changing them which would be extra. From memory I think the kit is about £200.

Cam belt is the full kit however.

I thought that it was decided that if you're replacing the timing belt then you should also do the water pump.
Or have I got that wrong ?

Ours had its 2nd belt change in May, by Scott. Scott showed me the old water pump and he reckons it hadn't been changed since the car was new 61k ago! The impeller spun far too freely and it wouldn't have been long before it started weeping or even failed completely!

Yeah it's always a good idea to change the water pump (as a precaution) with the timing belt

Bearing normally goes on it.
