I am looking for some advice is it worth buying back from the insurance company and is it worth repairing, stripping down for spares.

This was a low mileage vehicle with FSH

I am sorry that I have done this, looks like it was caused by a rear tyre failure, bet everyone says that.

Awfull news woody. Do not let them write it off. Send pictures of mint examples and fight like hell to keep it.

Sorry to hear it. No one hurt that's the main thing. Like Brett says let the fight begin. Gooood luck

Bad news mate, hope you get sorted, I can see pics so have attached for everyone benefit, lookalike quite bad front end , it'll be several £1000 to get original parts on & labour and paint..

Gutted for you mate - looks a strange one front looks okay, i.e. bonnet etc but looks the 2 front wheels have been ripped off.

Keep us posted with what happens! Try and save it :(

Sad, sad sight [smilie=icon_cry.gif]
As mentioned above no one hurt is the main thing and glad your OK. But the insurance might be a problem with the cost of parts these days. What would the body parts cost alone? Both wings, bumper, bonnet, NS door skin, NS sill covers plus all the suspension, wheels, struts etc, guessing it will be a close one.

Hope you can get it sorted :salut:

Main thing is that you're ok.

Looks like it's fixable - but the insurance company are likely to write it off... it's a sad state of as the residual values don't currently score well against repair costs.
: (

I'd take the payment and run a Citroen C1 for a couple of years until my NCB had recovered...

So sorry to see this, but glad the you (and your passengers) are okay.

Seems like the bottom has bee hit hard for the wheels to be dislodged, so may need to check the state of the front sub-frame and the state of the chassis rails.

A real shame, but do fight to ether save the Vee or get the best pay out you can. All the best.

Glad you are physically ok from the incident mate.

It is sad to see pics of another vee like that. Hope you get the best pay out that you can.

This...

Vees can expensively be replaced....you can't. Glad you are ok!

try to settle on a payout and buy back, dont accept first offer and fight like hell to get as much as you can. get a written valuation done by an 'expert' with clout, Duncan as registrar comes to mind as insurance companies tend to listen to clubs as they are thought to have the knowledge! Repo parts or used are available and will be much cheaper, this should make repair more viable, just ensure that the shell is checked on an optiline or similar jig for deformation and that it is fully aligned during and on completion of rebuild. Good luck, the important thing is that no one was hurt and you havent been put off, just make sure that when it goes back on the road all the Tees are crossed and the Eyes dotted!

Glad you are ok, must have been a bit of an experience.

I've seen others in a similar condition and they're back on the road. As long as the subframe and chassis rails aren't affected I'd almost have been tempted not to have run that through the insurance at all (depends on your financial position I guess). Sounds like it's too late for that now though.

Remember the aim of insurance is to put you back in a position that you were before the accident, be that mechanically or financially. The trick will be bringing their estimation of where they think you were up to your expectation. Good luck and if you decide to go down the repair route there are people on here that will be able to help.

Glad that you are okay, hopefully the insurance are kind and don't write it off.

Whereabouts in Suffolk did this happen?

I had been hoping at some point in the future to come and see your car. It was 1 of 4 vees I know of in the Ipswich area.

Hi Everyone

No injury's.

Thanks for the comments and advice, nod to EEE007 for sorting out my poor skills with the images

The insurance company are claiming £17k to repair and have therefore written it off, waiting to hear there offer.

Doors are fine, just one wing is damaged, I suspect that I will buy back and repair, going to give it some thought and depends on how much they want to sell it back to me.

Ran into a dirt bank at about 50 mph, there is a big bit of bank missing, impact was quite light really, think most of the damage was caused by riding up the bank. Had been raining, so bank was soft.
