With the phase 2 now getting to 8 years old how long till its due it's second change?
Is it done on miles or age?
Thanks in addvance
Gareth

5 years & 72k irrespective of mileage-

so a 2002 PH1 would be due its second change

The earliest PH2 on a 53 would be due sep 13 at the earliest-

The belt change would be 5 years or 72k from the date of the previous change

do you think this is a reason phase 2 price are getting lower? as owners realise that this bill is coming up?

Yet the 407 3.0 v6 is 9 years and 160k miles with almost the same engine and its the same belt for sure with the same part number!
A very interesting comment, are we panicking unduly, or has the belt technology advanced to extend the service interval?
I have come across a similar situation with ducati motorcycles where the belts 10 -15 years ago were organic and now they have kevlar strands. this extends the service life of the belt. another experience i have had is with honda engines, where the belt actually runs IN the oil, this makes a mockery of having to change the belt due to oil contamination. I think as a collective we need more informaion on this, i recently stripped a 6 year old motor with 25k on it and the belt looked like brand new, no cracks or wear at all, i would be happy putting it back for at least 3 more years.

My vee hasnt had a belt yet! only done 12k miles but is 2004 registered, the Peugeot v6s from 2002 onwards had the 160k/9 year intervals so think Renault were just being over cautious maybe?

Anything to do with heat degradation with the engine bay being a fair bit warmer than a FWD car with the same engine etc..? Just applying some layman's logic here.. :salut:

Wouldnt have thought so as the engine temps will be around the same, thermostate and cooling would keep the engine cool no mater where it is!?

Only thought I had was maybe Renault thought the clio vee would get a harder life than say a 407 v6 coupe maybe?

but then has the laguna v6 got the same intervals?

I think as for temps along the same lines, the clio engine does not get hotter than any other realistically, the oil cooler and thermostats do take care of that, however, it does not feel that way when you have been in one for a couple of hours, particularly if the windows were open, slimming world ought to hear about this car.
