Silverstone Classic 2013 26th, 27th & 28th July

First of all I need to say sorry for not getting this up before hand. I've had so many commitments with my son and work that I've struggled to have 5 minutes to myself.

ANYWAY!!!

I've sent the forms of and paid for a club application so its time we know what sort of numbers are to be expected. Compared to last year, I am hoping this year will be a little more organised through out the 3 days we are able to attend. Unfortunately, I was unable to be there last year so it must have seemed all a bit up in the air for those that attended but with a club tent, banners etc etc present I assure it won't be the same.

What to expect from all 3 days?

From Friday to Sunday there will be loads to see and watch. Fridays on track action is predominantly qualifying from memory but still offers a spectacle as the machinery being used is pretty amazing. Saturday will be a lot busier for obvious reasons and there will be more of a racing atmosphere too with cars being driven harder. Sundays atmosphere is usually buzzing with on track action being some of the best you will see anywhere. Regardless of age or rarity they are driven as they were intended. I find it hard to walk away from the stands sometimes. Food is typical of Silverstone, Brandshatch and other tracks....expensive and small! I will supply a selection sandwiches, drinks and snacks (cakes) for those that want to try and avoid the Wagons. Weather wise I've always walked away with burnt shoulders and a glowing nose so hopefully it will be no different this year.........fingers crossed  Should the weather man be on our side and the track action not your thing, there will be heaps of other car clubs showing there pride and joys with many showing as much interest in your v6 as their own Ferrari F40 or classic F1 car.

What will be on show?

Well variety will be the order of the day. Cars like our own all the way through to the most expensive automobiles available. As well as walking around a static show of cars on the infield, you will also be allowed to walk through the paddock and pits amongst moving cars so a great place to take pictures and video's. As said previously, the action on track is amazing and the cars being used brilliant. My particular favourite being the Group C LM cars and older touring cars.

What happens after the event?

This is a subject that is up to you guys. I know many like to go out for a spirited drive. I live very local so I'm very happy to organise a little drive out in the early evening and organising a nice sit down meal for a bit of banter and a giggle. It is understandable that many won't as it can be a long day at Silverstone so I'll leave this open.

If I attend for 2 or 3 days, where can I stay at night?

There are a few options. There are lots of local camping options and there are a few hotels local to the track that would cater for vee owners very well. If more than a few need help or pm regarding this subject, I will post up some locations.

The big one, COST? How much to attend?

Compared to much MUCH lesser shows, fcs *cough* *cough* it is quite expensive should you want tickets just for one day. However, you get what you pay for and at least this way you are guaranteed a fabulous few days and many attractions.

Prices are;

Early Bird tickets before 31st March

Friday £35
Saturday £50
Sunday £45
2 Day fri/sat £60
2 Day sat/sun £70
3 Day £80

Tickets after 31st March

Friday £40
Saturday £55
Sunday £50
2 Day fri/sat £70
2 Day sat/sun £80
3 Day £95

For the early birds, I'm currently waiting for a club "code". This is needed so that all cars and associated tickets marry up to our club stand. I should have this code in the next day or two though. There is a way of getting your tickets yourself but if you guys would prefer me to sort them out like I did last year so they are all posted together then I'm happy to do this.

Finally, if the vast majority of folk wish to attend just for one day, I understand its expensive, could we please try and aim for one day in particular. Sunday probably being best. This way we can at least show off a fantastic club stand. Again this is something that I have left open at the moment.

Please add your names and what days you want.

Many thanks, Brett

Sunday please, would fly back for the groupe c race alone.

Anyone on the bench? It's the best event of the year, better even than FOS in my opinion. Too much to see in one day even... Try it. :approve:

Excellent stuff - last year was fantastic. The Vees that turned up gate crashed Renault Apline Owners Club's parking area.

I will be there on Sunday (28th), but unfortunately *ahem* I will have to defect to the Porsche camp for this year since it is the 50th Anniversary of the 911, so it's time the 993RS had an outing.

Booooooo! Not to worry. Perks of owning more than one icon I suppose.
.........will come over to say "hello" though, and may be com over on the Saturday as well, but issue might be getting a Sat/Sun package but for different cars - Porshce Club GB have a special ticket for Sunday since they have planned a parade lap, which can only be used with the reg number provided. I suppose that will be the case for all car clubs.

When are you likely to get the code for v6Clio.net?

If you do want to bring the vee for one of the days Dulan, I'll email their team to see what we can do regarding combining both days for a better rate?

Brett, indeed I would be happy to bring the Vee on Saturday (27th). Issue is I need to book Sunday through the code provided by Porsche Club GB, and provide the reg number, which implies that I would need to bring the same car on both days should I go for the Sat/Sun package.

This is where I need to book to get the 993RS in on Sunday: LINK

"Please note that your vehicle pass will only be valid for a Porsche 911 and with the registration number you enter on the following page"

As such, if you can find out whether I can get the Sat/Sun package, but get the Saturday through v6Clio.net and Sunday through PCGB (using code "C13911") and provide the respective reg. numbers of the two cars then we are on to a winner. Thanks.

Well there is but its months away. Put it this way, if there were any late comers then we would have a problem getting them in.

Well given that the earlybird discount expires on 31st March, anybody who wishes to attend should put their names down now.
