Reading a similar thread reminded me to write this.
Around March time I drove the clio from the UK to Rotterdam and the surrounding areas. I wanted to write something about the trip but have not yet had the time.
Anyway, I had heard on this forum full of intense enthusiasts and Clio V6 experts that the side pod fans contrary to popular belief blow hot air out of the engine bay under periods of extreme stress/ traffic/ hot days etc.... Odd I thought and a little disappointing as I had always assumed a great air intake should do just that. I had previously conducted a hand to pod test and it did feel as though the air was blowing outwards. No further thought was given.
As I pulled up one evening in Rotterdam for my daily ration of Oysters my side pod fans started up, while the girly was adjusting her makeup in a typically speedy fashion I decided to kill some time by using all my engineering nous and technical wisdom to conduct a serious experiment.
By dropping a carefully chosen selection of dry Dutch leaves above and to the front of said sidepods I can now officially change the whole aspect of the owners club and announce that the fans preceded to suck the leaves onto the plastic grill with such vigour and force I had to peel them back off with tremendous determination.
There you have it, you lot have no idea about cars and whoever came up with the idea about a heat removing fan has a screw loose.
I hope you are all as happy as I was upon this discovery.
