Another big "thumbs up" from me for Scott Glander and SG Motorsport Services Ltd. I had spoken to Scott for advice when looking to buy my Phase Two at the end of last month and, once secured, I had booked it in for cambelt / water pump service and fitting an uprated starter motor. I took the car in last week and was expecting to have to wait until after Christmas to get it back. However, Scott and Jamie have obviously been working like Santa's elves this week and I had a call on Tuesday to say that, would I want it, it could be ready for yesterday afternoon. Of course, I wanted it!!!
Scott had been great, all the way through, in letting me know how things were progressing and what extra was needed (very little as it turned out) and carefully went through what had been done, including showing me all the old parts, and answering all my questions when I went to pick the car up.
Most importantly, the car is appreciably different to drive. The engine runs quieter (Scott reckoned that one of the previous belts had been set with too much tension) and a previous whining had gone as a result. One of the the upper front suspension rubbers had been diagnosed as worn and its replacement had taken away an ever so slight pull to the left. Finally, the car had been sold to me with ridiculously low tyre pressures and, now reset, I could feel a stiffened ride, but the handling was much more confidence inspiring. My son (who had taken me to pick up the car) drove it half way back home and could see why I had to have the car once I had first driven it. As I was no longer nervous of a six year old belt, I was able to enjoy a 70 mile run out to a meeting last night and came home raving to my wife about how well it went.
I am lucky enough to own other "odd-ball" cars and have always taken the trouble to find knowledgeable specialists to turn to for servicing / advice. With my Sierra Sapphire Cosworth, achieving this was a "hit and miss" affair for a while until I was settled, but I feel that, in Scott and SG Motorsport Services, I have landed at the right place first time out (thanks to excellent advice from v6Clio.net). Highly Recommended!
