Servicing cost

Does anyone know how much it should cost for a service on a 54 plate vee and what work needs doing?
Cambelt has been done and car is on 24k miles, is it just a minor service thats required at this mileage?

Been quoted £280 by my usual dealer, this seems a bit steep if its just a cabin filter, oil filter and oil.

Many thanks.

Should just be the minor service Roy I think.

Renault Preston is £120 for this including parts so £280 does sound quite expensive.

Bishopbriggs said they would service my car with correct oil (oil n filter only) for 70 quid! 69 ppoint service.

I was quoted 432 + 52 for an MOT after some help and advice from Matt and abit of haggling I got it down to 290 inc the MOT although that was dropping the air filter at £109 as going for a pipercross. I though that was ok but now I am thinking otherwise.

Are you getting your service done at Renault Roy???

I wouldn't put my car into Renault again after the last debacle.

Might be a wee bit away from you, but i know 2 Renault RTE's that work for themselves through in Edinburgh. I can send you the details if you want. They use all Renault parts and i have had mine in there when i was having the steering wheel wiring checked. I used to work with them and are good lads. Just another option mate.

Cheers for the replies folks.

The original price I was quoted was actually £208 not £280, the lowest they have said they will go is £190, I dont mind spending money on the vee but not when everyone else is paying less for the same work.

I like the sound of your offer Alex but I'm trying to keep the miles off the car just now, that rules out Dunfermline aswell.

Iain that sounds like a bargain but has Bishopbriggs had a vee in before and was that not some deal they were doing on shopping cars?

I know how you feel about the miles mate. I was the same when i wanted my timing belt done. I ended up taking it to Bishopbriggs for them to do it and hated the fact that it was so far away. The price quoted was very good. They never took the engine out so i think they may have done the job a wee bit rougher than Renault would have recommended. Since then i have a very slight blow from the exhaust. It only does it if you accelerate hard and makes me think that it is more from the manifold. That combined with the fact that they damaged my car and then denied it. May have been a one-off incident though. Big Iain hasn't had any problems with them.

Edinburgh could be a last resort for you but surely somewhere decent in Glasgow would do it for you and can stamp the book. Pretty sure any garage can do it as long as genuine parts are used.

It was a deal for "shopping cars" as you put it.

I wanted the oil changed and had to pay more for the correct oil, Air filter is aftermarket so I will clean that myself and the 69 point check was enough to highlight any issues there may be. In my eyes a minor service.

It had a major service on its last two visits hence why I was happy with this!

They (Pollockshaws) have said that the reason its £208 is because they are a "Renaultsport specialist". They also said that they'd give the car a 32 point service but this would not be done by their "Renaultsport technician". :ihatepcs:

Last month it was the same guy now he's a renosport specialist. From what I have heard they have dealt with most vee's but to ask for more money is a joke!

I've now been quoted £99 by the same dealer, and £139 for a more thorough service, bizzare!

Booked her in for the full whammy.

Nearly £100 for a replacement filter for the 255. Perhaps that would be changed on a more thorough service.
