SERV Light

New Member
Ever since I bought the car the SERV light has been on....

Do the technically minded on here have any ideas why?

There are no other lights on the dash and the car is fine....

Could it be on because I changed the KM/h original clocks to MPH ones?

My handheld OBD reader keeps giving me a P code error that Renaults CLIP computer isn't picking up.

Renault have no idea whats causing it either.

Is there any way to turn it off?

Common fault is the old Airbag and SERV light....

I had my airbag light sorted by Renault but SERV light never went out....

The only reason I ask is I'm worried in case there is a fault somewhere that nothing is picking up.

Thats the one James....

P0771 - Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

Any ideas Wongy what that means? Sounds American to me? Transmission usually means clutch/gearbox? Are there any temperature sensors linked to the gearbox or transmission? Could this really be an Oxy sensor failure maybe?

Not heard of this error and would not be oxy sensor related

I think there is a sensor / wire leading to the top of the box - maybe get the contacts cleaned as a first step?

I can ask my dealer when i get my Mk2 box put in as well to see if they know what that error is

Its actually P0710 and not 771 as above...

Think transmission means gearbox and fluid means oil so is there a gearbox oil temp sensor on the Vee anywhere?

I cannot find an oil lever sensor anywhere on the gearbox.

Oil temp sensor? What else could transmission fluid temp sensor mean?

I'm gonna refit the Kph clocks and see if that has anything to do with it.

Not sure its a sensor plus my car is driven in 35/40c in Hong Kong so am sure I would have seen this warning if it existed!

But there are some wires that go onto the top of the box, my suggestion would be to clean the connectors.

Will check at renault dealers when I take mine in

Cheers guys...

I'll try and refit the KPH dials and see if by chance that is what the problem is? Could it be in anyones expereince a malfunction form the dials?

If not this then at least I've ruled it out. Have to dig a bit deeper then.

Is there any way to turn the SERV light off even with the fault stored in the ECU?

The wee OBD scanner is supposed to clear codes but mine doesn't?
