Seat height

Just a quick question is it possible to lower the seat (other than using the lever) as even at the lowest position i feel to high in relation to the window. Probably already know the easiest solution is just to stop eating so many pies, but wondered if there was an alternative

Do pies make you taller ? ;)

Not much can be done from what I know but I have heard of people removing the washer on the seat brackets I think :s

Nothing can really be done that isn't drastic.

Drastic = removing current seat subframes from seats (destroying them in the process), make up/have made up new bespoke subframes, weld onto base of existing seats. Imo completely not worth the hassle considering the original seats are proper sheeite.

Maybe just hunch over more :)

No factory option as such Paul. The closest you'll get to any factory up grade would be to fit Recaro Trendlines from a Clio 182 (optional extra) or a 182 Trophy. Theyll set you back about £750, give or take £100, and are a straight swap. I wouldn't go as far as to say they'll lower the driving position though.

It is well worth while changing the seats. I went for full buckets and the transformation in the driving experience is like night and day. I also benefitted from a usefully lower driving position.

The same recaros are found in R26 Meganes or you can fit the clio 200 recaros - Nick Trott (EVO editor) had this done - though this is more of a pig due to the height of the head rests.

Other non Renault options I've seen include Evo seats and Accord type R seats.

Or, as long as you have the matching subframes (roughly £100 from Capital seating), pretty much any other aftermarket seat (Sparco, Momo, Sabelt, Recaro etc) made.

they dont make you taller but they make your ass fatter thus lifting you up in the seat and making it look like a silver back has learnt to drive as I have been told. So the question is what seats give the lowest driving position that a lard ass could still fit in?

I'd suggest a bucket type seat as they have the least substance between seat and subframe. Then again if you really are donkey kong then you may struggle to squeeze in and out :)

What seats are in this?

Can't see piccy. Use the IMG tab and follow the instructions!!

IMG tab is one of the grey boxes above the reply box

I did that but it still didn't show when I previewed it. If you click the link it should open in a new window - does for me?

Anyway, if not it's the pic from the 197 steering wheel thread.

Paul

p.s I've completely guessed at the fix considering work don't let me see photos so all I can see is a blank post above!!!

p.p.s just checked on my phone. Picture now showing [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

p.p.p.s seats are recaro pole positions.

They are definitely one of the nicer seats. Certainly the nicest bucket seats available imo. OEM Porsche GT3 seats.

Nicest seats for a vee or any car though are the recaro sportster cs. BIG money though but look 8) 8)

But realistically the 197 or Trophy seats are what most of us can aspire to lol!

Mind you, I'd better hurry up and aspire to a Vee first!

That's my recaro pole positions! Ali and mossy also have them,
Mine and mossy's are mounted very low on custom frames, lovely!

Totally agreed Colin :approve: Absolutely perfect seats for the vee, totally changing the driving position given you more driving confidence due it feel more go-karty, oh and so comfy too. :race:

Also been watching out for some on ebay for the Trophy too ;)
