Just thought I'd post ref Scott G.
Left my phase 2 illiad with him 2 weeks ago with a long list of work, hoped to have it ready within 2 weeks..
Picked up day before yesterday.
Work done included:
new discs & pads all round,
remove exhaust (bosal) & fit new Spike exhaust,
repaint front bumper (usual speed bump damage - had paint before but mismatched),
address handling 'issues' ie didn't feel like the new one I had 10 years ago!,
rear number plate light not working (slightly minor I know)
remove wheels & tyres, strip, repaint & refit,
Supply & fit new set all round wheel nuts (old ones rusty)
treat rust issues on front suspension,
few other small jobs which I can't remember
Scott found out what the handling problem was - both front springs were broken - he fitted new suspension top mounts, springs & droplinks, also the brake discs had seen better days ie. the pedal was like standing on a wooden block and they were binding like crazy. They worked (if you really stood on them) but were not what I would like to call satisfactory. He spent a lot of time removing all the parts, drilling out abs brackets (onthe rear) etc which along with the new discs & pads has sorted the brakes completely.
The front valence (bumper) which is prone to speed bump damage was very damaged. The finished article is absolutely perfect. He took a great deal of time & trouble to do this properly, even removing a wing to ensure a good paint match for the painters.
Spike - your exhaust is the dogs. Sounds proper without being stupid (if you know what I mean) - Scott had to cut off all bolts & supply new ones, looks & sounds great. Problem was the fittings for the rear valence were all drilled out as most wouldn't come undone.
I must admit I was going to get a local garage to do the work, but all the positive reviews I had read about Scott persuaded me to make the 2-3 hour drive to Chippenham and see him after chatting on the phone.
For reference I meet lots of people every day through my business. Scott came across as a very genuine proper specialist who knows a lot about these cars and whilst he gave me a guide price for some of the work I felt comfortable and asked him to do what needed doing. This he did and he did a fantastic job, the car looks, sounds and handles so so much better than before. The invoice was what I was expecting for the amount of work and the long list of parts required (I wouldn't know where to look for half the stuff he needed) and so was the finished car.
What I would say to anyone with one of these who's looking for a specialist make the journey - as he's had so much experience with the Clio V6, Scott would be my only port of call.
Sorry it took me a day to type this but I haven't stopped driving it since...
Thanks Scott, appreciate it.
Oh and thanks to Spike for the sound....
