Rubber paint

Just read about http://www.plastidip.co.uk/ . This stuff looks pretty good. You can paint your wheels and then pull it off when you are bored of the colour. But more importantly you could spray the front bumper before you head off on that cross europe driving holiday and protect the car. Only seems to have basic colours and the finish is matt but i may try this on my wheels. Would also be good for le mans if you wanted a specific colour scheme for your car.
Not read anything about it damaging the paint work underneath.
Has anyone else tried this before?

Joking aside, if the stuff mentioned doesn't effect the paintwork in anyway and does deflect stone chips it sounds great. Better than masking tape anyway!

I am just back from the middle east and it seems every other car has this on the front, it does not look great if I am honest but then again it does not seem to have been carefully sprayed on, just sprayed everywhere but I supose if your going for a blast though the desert and it stops you shot blashing your paint its a good idea.

There are some good videos on Youtube from people in the states who do it professionally and sell the gear, some of these look really good but I am not sure how 'long life' the material is ... To me it is essentially spray wrapping and looks quite interesting ... A few car forums seem to be picking up on it and are experimenting with trim and roof panels etc.

It looks like you can buy the spray cans for DIY jobs or proper spray kits.

One of the videos I have seen from the states shows a VW being completely sprayed. The amusing thing is you don't need to mask the entire car as you can simply use a cutter to score the plastic and peel off the excess thus also avoiding a masking type line ... so, for example, they are able to spray over windows and lights etc.

But yes you could just lash it on I'm sure - it just peels off ...
