Rentech

My vee was serviced there before. They have worked on lots of vee's and Mike (owner) does know his stuff.

That is where i would take mine, no question.

You may as well pal. I can honestly say Rentech are good. Mike has worked on hundred of 1*2's and dozens on V6's.

If i were in your shoes i would be going there as first port of call :)

Quite tempted!!!!!!!!!! :)

Remember the house purchase convo.... that may be happening soon. If so, i could well be a passenger!

Picked my V6 up from Rentech after a small service a couple of weeks ago. Also had the cambelt and various other bits done there last year.

Can't fault the service, speed or cost.

Mike is totally excellent! He's done various stuff on my Vee, and furthermore was the only person I'd let work on it when first I got it and he still worked at the (now no more) Pompey Renault dealer Liningtons. When Liningtons closed he set up Rentech. Previously he used to work on my 172, and indeed it was through his contacts at Liningtons that I snagged my Vee in the first place!

I'm a couple of hours from SG maybe even 3, as are a lot of people. Same applies for other specialists. What do you do about getting the car there and back?

Drive down train back?
2 cars down?
Wait there OneStepfor a day?
Trailer it?

Serious question, I'd like to send the car there when its due but doesn't sound easy.

I usually leave the car at SG and then pick it up a week or so later. I usually take 2 cars down, but a few other local owners have given lifts too as its quite a pleasant garage to visit. Chippenham station isnt far away and Scott has been known to shut up shop do a quick taxi run to the station. Alternatively he can arrange for the car to be collected on trailor too i needed.

You wouldnt want to hang around when hes doing a belt change as it takes about 8 hours.

Be interesting to get a quote from Scott TBH, the guy at Rentech has said the engine DOESN'T need to come out, he has done many in the past apparently. I know this is a topic for discussion! Im keen to talk to Scott as I know he does take the engine out! I guess, whats an extra hour every 5 years! lol Duncan did you get your cambelt done last year with Scott?

My understanding is that it is possible to do it with the engine in the car, but theres barely any space to get your hands in there.

Your right, for the sake of an hour you may aswell take it out and have a bit of access space to take your time. The other major plus point is the fact that you can inspect everything properly with the engine out.

I didnt get my belt done at Scotts as i didnt want to drive a car on a 9 year old belt 500+ miles, so had it changed up in Edinburgh before driving. Otherwise i would of taken it to him, he did supply me the belt kit though as no one else could get hold of one quickly!

He did change the belt on #0089 when i owned it.
