Renault 19 16v phase 1 restore

bought this car for 400 euro not running. I knew the car 10 years ago when a friend of a friend owned it, he rebuilt the engine and gearbox approx 8 years ago. spent thousands on it and sold it to someone in killarney 20 miles from me. then it driven for 3 years and parked up in 2008. I bought it not running but the old owner assured me it was driven into the shed so i took the chance.

took it home and after about an hour we got it started, plug near the back of left headlight had 1 pin not making a proper connection so sorted it and not a problem since!

bought the wheels for 200 euro with good tyres in feb 2011

then i saw another 1 for sale in march 2011 and it was only an hour drive from me so i bought that for 400 euro too for parts

I ave the c reg one almost stripped, must just take out the running gear. I will sell the shell for scrap value if you know anyone looking for it, no rust at all on the car, i needed the doors as my own were rusty where the cables come through to the door piller. its hard enough to get parts for them so its handy to have the doner for sensors etc

the fella I am getting to paint it for me is very good but always busy so it is going on a while, good job im not stuck for a car!!

the front panel inside the bumper got shultzed, and all inner arches did also. underneath is fully shultzed also.

wheels are next and car will be completed then!

did you buy that one of brian in waterford?

no, bought it off of a lad in killarney, he bought it from a lad i know, about 9 years who lives just outside killarney. it is in kerry since 2000

i bought a white one in waterford back in 2001 from a garage called Milltown Motors on the Dublin road. I sold it about a year later to a lad in Waterford again.
reg no was; 92-W-334.

i just checked through the pics, myself and a lad from waterford went up to killarney (i think, cant really remember now) and collected an incredibly similar one but this one had an MO reg, looking forward to seeing your one finished, should look the business

I seen the pics of the MO reg one alright. never seen that car around here. I had a blue 92-KY-3093 reg one back in 1999 also, crashed it and sold it damaged to a lad in galway , it went back on the road as far as I know.

my own car has the wheels just painted, waiting to get the strip put on the 2 sides tomorrow and the car is totally finished then

jesus therell have to be a pic overdose soon as you do... some lad in dublin is selling a ph2 with head gasket issues for 500 euro ono

one is enough to have on the road for me! might go for a sierra cosworth next id say, just waiting for the right one to come up on donedeal.
i will take plenty of photos tomorrow

no they are 16" wheels, found it hard to come by a set of these so couldn't be very fussy about the size! very happy with the result:lol:

i dont recommend 17"s anyway, id prefer 16s to be honest, hey do you know where id come across a set of the caps for the centre, im short two on mine

i dont, back when i had my first one I was missing a centre cap, i cut a hub cap and stuck it on to take the ugly look off it and it did the job fine . id say just keep an eye ebay uk and germany , if i come across anything i will let you know

that car looks very clean there by you. seen that for sale a while back on pistonheads or somewhere i think? they are like hens teeth over here with the last few years

yes it was on piston heads but it had been left out side for 10years with a blown engine. needs all the cills repairing, hope to get started on it soon.
