Remapping

Bring back carburetters, none of this fancy mapping to worry about - and you get plenty of induction noise to boot :race:

i remember carburettors, the device that can supply the wrong amount of fuel at every RPM.

Hi I'd be interested in this mate.

cool i think if i can get 6-7 of us interested can hopefully get the rolling road and the map for about 300+VAT obviously can get more discount the more people i put through the rolling road, maybe if people arnt interested in the mapping maybe we could just get a rolling road day going?
Yes i am definitely interested in the results , mostly what happens to the fuel at high rpm 5-7k, 300 quid does sound expensive for around an hours work, i say an hour because most dynos use an auto map programme that pokes the numbers in for you as you drive on the rollers, if its done by hand thats another matter. but after one is done you have a base map to just modify for each different vehicle, 7 cars at £300 + vat = £2520, not a bad days work.
as for a rolling road day, WHAT A GREAT IDEA! i'm up for that.
as for getting your moneys worth, my clio runs as rich as f**k at the top end, which i am trying to address, if i could map this to fix it i would save a fortune on gas. probably why the vee is crap on fuel.

wow spike find that a little strong but i guess you have your views on it, i was just interested in maybe doing something for fellow vee owners but judging by your response you feel like i am trying to make a tonne of money. So just for your information, the idea of the dyno was so that they can take a base reading from every car and then write a new map for each and every car, not just one and then upload to all of them!! then run on the dyno to check the results. So if you can find somewhere that will do all that work on less than that then by all means please put them forward?

I am having mine done beginning of next week, i will post up the results for all to see :)

Mulgari : Didn't mean to mess your offer of rolling road time and a remap, a kind gesture and any offer like this is always welcome, especially from a V6 enthusiast who has the necessary knowledge and equipment available. My comment were purely related as to the capabilities of a "Rolling Road" not your capabilities.

I have my own opinion of rolling roads, and yes they're great for establishing a base map....... but for fine tuning I personally prefer to spend a little (Lot) more and have if live mapped on the road & track.

Hope you don't think I was questioning your experience or kind offer.

No jim not at all, somtimes i find the forum can be a little hostile. I know there are alot of rip off merchants out there, i have been done recently by the famous " Ed Fitzgerald" myself, i just thought would offer it up to you guys and see what you thought, no strings, no con just one vee owner to another.

You got me wrong, i don't think YOU are going to make a ton of money, my thoughts were that it seemed someone was going to make money somewhere, my basis for the comment was based on the fact that if you had half a doz cars all more or less the same, why would it cost £300 each!!!! i can understand the first one costing this sort of money if it were mapped manually but the next guy on has a base map to start from so should definately not cost as much.... how can it? they would all have individual maps of course but it is the base map and basic setup that costs the money.
i am not slating your idea just trying to understand how this amount was arrived at if 6 cars were figured in the mix!
as for results, i would love to see your results and hear about your experience on the day and how the car is better to drive.
no offence intended.
as for the dyno day, yes as i said a good idea that has already been put forward by RAY and i have started a list, so please see my post. the price for this will be around £40 per car where the fueling will be checked as part of the run.

i am with spike on this if the first car is the base work, and were all the work or most of it will be .it might be worth a polite word with the mapper to ask the question seams strange that all will be charged at the same rate unless that is the total value for 8 hours mapping divided by number of cars? may i stress that i am not saying anyone is out to make on this
