Red Bull Racing Clio

Well some may remember me toying with the idea of building a car along the Red Bull Racing theme a while back? The Clio williams came about through Williams using Renault engines and i have an F7R engine kickin about so I thought i'd create a more modern theme along these lines. Though when i bought the valver expecting to use just the shell i had a little suprise as the condition underneath was much better than the asking price suggested. The car drove well and very fast, and once back and on the ramp i found many new parts had been fitted. It was essentially a good, unfinished project. So i thought it'd be rude not to finish it my way, but from the beginning as it where. When i figure out how i intend to post piccys from start to where it is now. Been a long road but i can see the end and she looks sweeeeeet!

The RBR clio had to leave work today to make space in the bodyshop :( Anyway, this meant it had to be water tight and as road legal as poss to be driven up the farm on trade plates, first time its been drivin since i got it in june! So i assembled the other door

My workshop is in the middle of no where and the road up there is private, as you all know im still banned so once it had been drivin to that point it was my turn to drive, first time i've ever driven it properly and i'm very impressed, it feels so solid and sounds amazing, pulls strong too, cannot wait to be able to drive it properly and have it finished. Its completely different to drive from the RSi it feels more like my F7R megane. The RSi is great fun but the valver feels a bit special to me, at times i have questioned my efforts on the valver, but i know its all worth it now, always wanted one and now i remember why. If anyone can help me source the trim bits i need? One thing the drive up there did bring up is i have no heat, no doubt a blocked matrix which doesn't worry me too much as when the bodywork is all done its gettin a full service and all the fluids flushed and replaced, but the heater selector seems to be broken too, not the hot/cold one but the one directing the air flow, anly wants to blow on my face? when you turn the knob it goes very stiff (excuse the pun) and makes no difference. Still I'll get to that at a later date, gotta refit all the door innards at some point. The windows need sortin too, won'y stay in their runners. Also the headlamp aims will need adjusting.

I'd love to try for sponsership but am scared they'd make me destroy it as coprrite infringement or summit?

looks great so far, i wouldnt worry about corporate infringement etc, i very much doubt theyd decline free advertisement really so i say give it a shot try get sponsorship

i will look into gettin in touch with red bull racing ha ha. The front wheels seem to sit quite deep into the arches at the front. is that normal?

oh thats ok then, i am thinkin of gettin some spacers to pack it out a lil bit, had to fit them to the rear as the wheels were hittin the calipers which bugged me as they are proper renault wheels made by OZ. Anyway i have just this second took some better pics with my camera instead of the phone a link for the slideshow is here if your interested. Also have an address for RBR so am gonna get some pics printed and write a letter. Wish me luck ha ha. Any suggestions which pics to send? check my photobucket account for numbers etc. And yes it needs a good wash, i'm waiting til its in one peice to do that so i can enjoy the results ha ha, that is water marks on the bonnet not imperfections in the paint. Its cryin out to have the doors fitted.

was the offset right for the car though?

Bear in mind the new renaults have offset on the 40's, the megane coupes for example are 43mm et

The older clios and 19's are 36mm ET

The lyras look shit unless they have spacers on them on my grey 19

Well thhe matey i bought em off wotks in a renault parts dept. and had the same wheels on his scenic and said they went straight on so you could be onto summit there?

Quick update, painted the doors today.

That aint me in the pics btw. I entrusted the painting of the colour to my boss as the paint cost me a fortune and im a novice when it comes to bodywork.

what kind of paint is it? What's he doing in there spraying with no mask?

Also, they aren't Renault alloys they are just normal OZ Titans

Neal masks are for gays apparently. Where I worked they routinely painted trucks with no masking off etc and getting overspray on other customer cars etc etc

feckign joke.

My mate works for an asbestos company they still work often without suits or masks!

sorry where do i find the info on updating it. i got a few more pjrojects coming up that i shall try and report on so i best learn how. the wheels have renault part numbers on as did the box they came in so though what you say maybe right they where supplied to renault. As for the lack of masks you'd have to ask him? I belong in the workshop not the bodyshop. As much as i appreciate critisism I'm getting the impression that things are getting a little negative? I've found this site to be an inspiration so i hope im just being paranoid? Anyway i been reading alot of reports lately and hope to make some...
