recon rear calipers

More info has been found out about the rear brake set up on the Clio V6.

Yes the brake mounting brackets that fix to the hub that the pads fit into are Citreon XM hence the reason the Clio takes the same pads as the XM, but the bracket does not have the steel caliper pivot fitted in to it, it is removed and the threaded hole is used to mount the caliper using the captive bolt in the caliper.

Now the caliper it is very likley not to be XM item but is from the Xanita range with the captive mounting bolt.

Why you is this you may well ask, the XM pad is bigger than the Xanita one, hence its use, but XM's finished production in 2000, were as Xanita was still in production and the caliper was still available for Clio V6 production.

Both calipers use the same fitting kit, if you need one Mintex part number is MBA 1142 and you get the retaining pin and spring clip and the large stainless pad spring @ about £6.50 per side.
