Rear quadra spring needed urgently

Hi.

As some of you may know I purchased the GAZ kit for my quadra. The springs they sent me were completely wrong and today I got this in the mail:

Hi Joakim,

I have contacted our spring manufacture, as we need to get this right, we need to have a sample spring. If you give me an address, I will arrange collection.

I am hoping that one of you guys have a spare rear spring in your lockups or garages. I kind of like to use the quadra, which would be difficult if I send a spring to the UK.

The springs that I'm after looks like this:

If any of you can help me by lending me a spring so that GAZ can make up some real rear quadra springs I will be very grateful..

It's the one on the left in the first picture. It has the same diameter in both ends and the car has different sized seats.

So how come Dips and Johnspin have fitted theirs then? They must know whats the right spring if they have issued suspension to those guys!

Yes, seems very odd. Maybe one of them has an order number left or have some pics they can supply to shed some light on it?

I don't know what they're up to at Gaz, but you have to agree that the ones they sent me are deffo wrong? You have been under one of these more than anyone

I think you will find that they fit ok , I'll try and take some pic of mine today and you can see how they fit , don't forget that these springs lower the car buy 25-30 mm. I gave them a spring when I origanlly had them made and they look the same to me

Well, they sit in shaped cups on the suspension top and bottom (or not, by the looks of it!), how does the top spring seat? If they dislocate when its jacked up its an MOT fail as well....

Jesus.....it looks like they've just chosen a random spring off the 'spare parts' shelf!

Yeah.. I also have a pic of the top spring seat.
I saw directly that it wouldn't go on but still put it on there to see how far up the cone it would go.. Didn't even pass the thinner part of it.



johnspin, you don't happen to have anything regarding your rear setup left? Pics, ordernumbers och other, anything that can help them identify which spring it's supposed to be.

Dave, yes. they told me they had two springs listed for 21tq rear. This is one of them, the others the same but a little bit wider..

the one they have supplied is wrong, they shold have been the wider ones. my springs fit nice at the top and bottom.

here are some pics of rear suspension, you can see the one they sent you are the wrong one's. ive got all the part numbers for except for the spring, on the invoce it only says springs to suit.
i'm going to Gaz on thursday so ill ask them for you if you like

Those pictures are very interesting, because they show a completely different bottom seat for the spring. I don't have any pics from the same angle, but this is the ones I've got:




As you can see mine seems to be pressed out in the trailing arm, and yours has been welded on after. That makes it more difficult to find a spring

Look the same to me mate, mines just a bit cleaner ,plus if the original springs are the same then the top and bottom seats must be the same too

But your spring doesn't seem to be narrower at the bottom? Did your original springs look the same as the ones I've posted? I think it seems like a bad idea to put in springs that are to big for the bottom spring seat..?

Yep, OE UK springs are identical to the ones you show.

That's right , so the ones Gaz sent you are wrong, the ones I've got fit perfectly in bottom and top mounts

Sound perfect! If you could have a word with them for me that would be great! Obviously they have the correct spring pattern at least. Hopefully I won't have to send them one of mine at least.

Thanks to all of you for helping me clear this up! Lets hope it doesn't take them all winter to get the springs to me

Update. Their spring manufacturer does not have any other spring pattern than for the springs they sent me according to a mail from mark I received today.

Can anyone help me with an OE rear quadra spring to be sent to GAZ?
