Rear Brake pads question for clio v6 mk1

Hi, I think it is time for some new pads for the rear brakes so I was looking at the EBC redstuff pads. I have some questions before i proceed with this choice. When fitting the pads on the rear i have read i will need a cailper tool of some sorts to unwind the cailper - could some enligten me to this tool. Also looking at the parts manual I have downloaded the rear pads from renault come with more then just pads, they come with what looks like a retaining bolt and a wire clip and few other things and these pads come with pad sensors which having a quick look at my car seems to missing. Do the redstuff pads have any of these parts or do i need to go to renault. Any steps on how to change the pads would be so helpful instead of going in blind.

I fitted the red stuff pads to the back of mine no problem. Didn't use a special tool(unless you call spanners and screwdrivers special :) ) but i'm sure it would make it easier if you did. The original rear pads sometimes have a short peg that protrudes at the back of the pad . This makes sliding the caliper forward a bit awkward :x .

The EBC come with pad wera detector.

Caliper piston has to be retracted in order to fit new pads.

this is carried out by turning piston.

EBC supply only the pads. You shpould not need any thing else.

If I remember rightly you do not fit shims with the EBC pads.

fitted red stuffs to my mk2 vee last week

a cailper tool is helpful but not really needed as a screwdriver can be used but be careful.

this is an easy job, the hardest bit for me was getting the wheel off..lol

Mines a Mk2 I changes the pads and basically it is pretty straight forward. You have to wind back the piston the caliper rewind tool helps (less than £20 at halfords) Make sure that you rewind back on fitment of the new pads so that the peg on the pad fits the grove on the piston. Also, that the caliper is not too loose on the new pads (becasue you have wound back the piston too much) otherise your handbreak will end up being too high!

The wear sensor cable is not needed as there is no connection

Cheers for the advice. I went for it today and after a bit of uming and aring I completed one side after geting the caliper tool and then the opposite side took 10 min. Easy. Now onto the front ones, will tackle them at the weekend, any advice.

the fronts are a doddle compared to the back, just make sure that the brake fluid reservoir cap is off and that when you push back the pistons the fluid doesn't overflow.

Have fun!

Steve
