Re spray

The time has come and I'm making enquiries into re spraying my cherished phase 1. As some of you already know I've spent a fair bit on it recently to get it mechanically A1 and now it's time for the cosmetics!

I'm obviously going to go for the iceberg but I wonder if any of you have different ideas? Should I go barmy and maybe go for technical grey for example?

Am I right in going for iceberg? Any of your thoughts would help.

If your not 100% sure on what to do, definatly keep it iceberg silver. I didn't appreciate quite how good a mint ph1 looks in silver when I had mine done. If you are sure you want a colour change there are plenty of OEM Reno paint codes on all manner of models that would look great on a vee. It's worth remembering vee's do not need lairy colours to look amazing. A dull colour/shade that shows of the great lines of the car can be equally as good and original.

I noticed a clio 172 in I think it was vw grey, I thought that looked real good, just trying find a pic..

Thanks for your replies, I definately agree that the vee is "out there" enough to justify a plain colour. Loving the idea of titanium. I wonder if there are any other ph1 titanium?

Was yannis ph1 titanium? Apart from the ph2 developement cars, i cant think of any other phase 1 cars that might possibly be titanium.

Personally i wouldnt pick titanium. Its not particularly different to iceberg and its a phase 2 specific colour. Just think you would end up regretting it, as its close to, but not the original colour.

Iceberg is THE definitive colour for a phase one. Nothing quite like a truley mint icerberg car. gets my vote!

I'm eventually going to get mine resprayed and I wouldn't consider any other colour than iceberg ,top colour :approve:

Iceberg, for all the reasons mentioned.. and you'll be securing the value of the car, instead of depreciating it with a change of colour.. All in my opinion ofcourse.

Even though they're both silver, Park a ph1 iceberg next to a ph2 titanium in the sun, they are quite different.

I'd personally keep it iceberg for all the reasons already mentioned, but each to their own and all that! :-)

My m8 isn't far from Leeds and he sprayed bits of June and makes a really nice job of it and very cheap , I think, let me no if you want his number n

Deffo keep it iceberg unless you are stripping it to the last nut and bolt and spraying it an Oem colour.

Have plumped for iceberg :-)

The guy whose doing it does lots of top end cars and comes very recommended therefore not cheap but I know will do a good job :-)

He actually noticed that the door was ever so slightly a different colour from the rear quarter panel and showed me where they had tried to blend it in the factory. He assured me this is standard for a lot of vees.

It's going in at the end of this month and will take 3 weeks. Can't wait to see it finished :-)

All done! Car looks amazing! It's still iceberg (for all you purists out there) and it looks better than it did the day it was born! [smilie=yay.gif]

I'm now going to turn my attention to the back box, it's rather tarnished so I'm going to replace it. The OMG has finally worn me out. I like the fact that it's loud but not that it's boomy in the cabin so any ideas are welcome.

I have some pretty good pics of my car on iPhone but I have no idea how to upload them ( I've tried but to no avail)

Will consider buying a second hand back box if anyone has a shiny loud one!
