Radiator

New Member
3 weeks into my ownership of a phase1 and time to start on a few jobs that need doing. Looking to replace a leaking radiator and Renault quoted £251. Is there anywhere to source genuine parts cheaper? Surprised at the cost of a replacement rubber front bumper protector, Reno quoted £305 and £8 for the boot liner screws!!
Can anyone tell me if the front bumper mesh can be purchased separately or does it come attached with the bumper?
Any info would be appreciated.

Can't answer all your questions...

I've got a Trophy-type front splitter with many metres of suitable rubber protector. If you want some to try - you can have it free - just pay the postage. No promises that it's 100% suitable for your needs though.

The mesh is bonded to the bumper. There are a number of 230's with non-OEM mesh... and nobody notices.

Worth further investigation me thinks...

Radiators is not my bag... not entirely sure that there will be any non-V6 alternatives though... and it's a component that's unlikely to be available from a breakers.

Paul at renaultpartsdirect.co.uk will give us the best club discount he is able to, but obviously that is based on Renault's crazy prices.

:approve: Definitely worth thinking about. Thanks for the advice, PM sent.

Paul at renaultpartsdirect.co.uk came up trumbs, £217.33 for a replacement radiator. Thanks guys.

Found this on EBay France, LINK
Would need to check the part number and see if they will post to the UK but price wise looks good.

I always was under the impression the ph1 mesh came with the bumper, but I saw on another thread recently someone who ordered a new bumper, and theres no mesh on it! I dont believe theres a part number to order it seperately. They originally came bonded to the rear of the bumper.

Only the ultimate v6 nerds are sad enough to be able to spot OEM mesh. The stuff people have sourced from garden centre's for a few pounds seems good enough. If its black and of similar shape (small diamonds) to the original, then it should look fine.

The skoda fabia rubber front bumper protector seems a sensible alternative to the ridiculously priced OEM. Cheapest place ive heard of is direct from Skoda for £13 LINK Its not exactly the same in design, but seems to work ok!

HI guys

Anyone fitted one of these Skoda rubber strips ?

Whats the result as wanting to replace mine due to a split... and OEM are insane money [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Yep, was a really easy to fit due to it bring very bendy so to speak, ok it's not an original part but for the money you can't go wrong.
