R56 Mini Cooper S Turbo

I dont know if any of you have had anything to do with the Mini's, but ive got to say im seriously impressed.

We bought my Girlfriend a copper S about a month ago now after she previously had a cooper and always wanted an s (i wasnt going to complain). Its an 07 with low mileage and a decent spec. We paid just under £7k for it with a years warranty included. Its a hoot to drive and some Hero (as i refer to them) ticked the box when it was brand new for an LSD.

Runflats besides (they will be going when they are due for replacement) this thing bloody grips. Its really chuckable and will quickly get up to a fair bit of speed. Now me being me, i've already started messing. I've fitted a down pipe and shortly it will be going to performance torque for a rolling road map. I'm told to expect around the 230bhp mark!(its 175bhp out the box)

Its quiet when it needs to be but under hard boost / load it sounds bloody fantatic and it pops and bangs on the upshift. Most would imagine my girlfriend isnt too impressed, but she bloody loves it!

Just wondered if anyone else has one of these. If im honest it reminds me of things i love about the 5 but I dont know if thats just cause ive been driving NA cars for too long :(

I got a classic mini lol
Same here!

Have to say when the "new" mini first came out I looked around them and just wasnt impressed at all. The classic minis looked small but were massive inside. The new mini`s were opposite - they looked big but were small inside. A couple of my mates bought the cooper when it first came out and a few passenger rides in them didnt change my opinion.

However... the other weekend, I was at a party and someone asked if I could move their birds car out of the way and gave me the keys to this mini cooper s. I only drove it down the street and back but wow. The whole experience - getting in, shutting the doors, the dash, the vertical side windows. It just bought back so many memories of my old classic mini. The car was noisy, hard ride, and just screamed fun at me. Its not very often I get into a car and instantly think "yep, i wouldnt mind having one of these". I reckon a tuned up one would be mega fun on the road.

I work with these, seriously fun cars. R56 Turbo ones often suffer with carbon build up in the head, so watch out for that.
