Looks like a new quaiffe diff can be bought for £615 + vat. Obviously fitting on top plus the cost of a 225 'box.

Hmmm. I'd pay the £750. Straight swap, and warranty. No fecking about. And i'd be quick because R26 boxes are HARD to find.
