I can remember someone making a thread on here about fitting the R19 gearbox to subframe mount onto a Mk1 clio. Could someone link it to me please, i cant find it. Im looking into fitting one on my clio to stop the engine flexing so much.
Thanks for the replies guys Nice clean gearbox you've got there ,mate. Feel inspired to give mine a good clean now. Just wanted to have a quick look at someones that its already been done to because ive got the rubber mount but haven't got the bracket yet. Was thinking of fabricating one but might as well just buy it to save the hastle.
Chris, does anything need to be altered with the brace bar or can you work around it? Looks like ill have to cut back the bracket on the subframe for the cold air feed and move the bracket and pipework for the steering fluid aswell.
yeah the bar from front to rear over the top isn't needed its just there. The reason for it was to prevent the top mount snapping the box casing.
Not all boxes have the rear hole for the bar to bolt to either.
The front mount is plug and play really, just clean the holes out with a tap first. Undo the mount thats there so you can lift the box a bit to make fitting easier. When the mounts in place let the box relax in position and just tighten it there.
Cool, cheers guys. Do you know of anybody who has a spare bracket they would be willing to sell? Ive got the mount itself just need the bracket off the box. Cant find any on ebay so it might be a trip to renault
