Quicksilver back box problems

spokes

New Member
Problem is that Quicksilver made rear silencers and sold them without ever testing them, for sound or fitment. The guy i dealt with from Quicksilver at the time for mine admitted this to me.They hadnt a clio v6 as a test mule.

i think this would have solved a lot too!

they could have easily found a way to keep the tone of the OMG without the in car boom, had they had time to fine tune it and develop it [smilie=dunno1.gif]

I know what you mean. But to be fair QS only made the OMG because people asked me specifically to ask them if they could make it louder. They warned people about the noise.

I guess they were too accomodating. As they couldn't test the box in the timeframe they should have just said no. :(

The fitment issue was isolated to a very small number of boxes. It is not common to all they made for the group buy. And TBH from what I have seen extremely common on V6 exhausts. I strongly believe that the cars themselves vary a fair bit so some of the issues were down the cars not the boxes.

They may have warned about the noise but never said you will end up deaf. The noise is great but the BOOOOOMMMMM is to much.

I can't understand why they never sorted this b/c it's a great let down of the product.

I listened to REN55's (Paul) standard QS at Brands and even by Paul's admission, there is a lot more boom from the OMG....you're right Ade, the droning at 40mph/70mph can literally be un-bearable...and that's not me being a girlie-wuss either...!! [smilie=icon_snigger.gif] But the burbling and popping on the over-run is amazing and I'd say for 95% of the time I can live with it, even as my daily driver....

...and I kid you not, I reckon my hearing has gone worse since having it on the Vee..... :s  Oh well, at least when I am probably sat in an old folks home at 80 DEAF as a post, I'll know I ended like that by being a girlie-racer...!!! PMSL...!!! :D

yeah, I always said that when I had mine..

the noise...is kind of..not all the loud..

but its the boom that makes you say..."OMG"

however...2nd gear...4000 revs hovering...windows down...OMG + filter + tunnel... then plant it.. = bliss! [smilie=cool.gif] [smilie=cool.gif]

Well, i've recieved my QS sport today and the OMG has gone back.

I wasn't really looking forward to fitting it after the OMG . But "OH MY GOD" i can hear at 2-3k RPM, no more BOOOOOMMMMM !!!!!!!

It's sounds just like me old 911 with its Cup System. I am one very, very, very happy man .

I have even taken out the rear grills, next the center section me thinks
