As some of you saw on Sun at Prescott my vee has started to struggle staring when the ambient air temp is very hot, its always started 2nd time if not first. But now its started to struggle even after a few attepmts.

Getting a little worried now as getting close to France trip and dont want to be stuck over there :s
Ive emailed Scott so hopefully he will know.

Any ideas???

Thanks

James

this used to be a common problem on Mk1s but I cant remember why!!!! Mine did it before I modded it.

I think it was to do with fuel vapourising and an air lock forming and from memory if you turned the ignition on so the fuel pump primes but then don't start the car, turn it off and do it again and then start the car it was OK - bit of a faf but it always started.

Went away when I changed the fuel system.

if thats bollox then I am finally going senile

Exactly as Mike says. Mine used to do it from hot, it would always start within 4-5 seconds if you gave it some throttle. Scott changed some valve for me which seems to of made the problem go away.

hi james, i had the same problem,

it's a non return valve on the fuel line running the the rail, easily fixed, scott recently replaced mine whilst giving the vee a makeover..:)

Cheers guys, havent looked yet but is it obvious where this is and how its done??
Will have a look this wknd hopefully.
Thanks

James

Changed the fuel valve as suggested (the one that sits on the rear bulkhead) and still doing it, only when its very hot outside and always in the most unsuitable places ever.

Wouldnt start for 30mins earlier then took the covers off and left for 30mins and started 1st time.
There are no fault codes in the ECU, getting worried about France this wknd now :-(
