Posh car or Sports car?

Sometimes people have wondered why, when the V6 was new, Renault did not offer sporty options like Recaro seats, roll cages etc that they later did on the R26.R etc and these pictures of the Concept car in 1999 just confirms their idea to position the car as a high performance car for Grand touring not racing.
An opportunity missed for sure.
All the pics are private jets, manor houses and Golf Courses. Not a race circuit, pitlane or Formula 1 car in sight!

Couldn’t fit a golf bag in it
Couldn’t drive it in polo boots
Her bag might fit in it.

Would have been better saying it’s a car for lunatic antics on (and off) the track.

Cromodora Arakna

Those are nice. I prefer them to the wheels fitted...….. and not as many spokes to clean ;)

These must be copy’s then, on a ph 1 exclusive in Europe.

Cromodora Araknas were a (relatively) mass produced wheel, just not in V6 fitment. They are still quite rare, but you can find them to fit 4stud cars relatively easily.

Oz was chosen to be the wheel partner for the V6, so no Cromodora wheel was ever on the table when the wheels were chosen for the road V6.

I like the Araknas too, but you can’t get them in the right offset to fit a vee.

Ha! You're right it will never be a Jaguar or Mercedes but then how down market are they becoming these days
Mind you, have you seen the new Espace? That's quite posh but it's still just a posh MPV ;)

It's a shame we cant get oz to make more wheels I could really do with some new ones

Fred Hopkins (BTM) said OZ was willing to remanufacture the wheels. It was Renault France who didn’t give permission. There must be some contractual restriction put on OZ.

We can get anything you like made, but would you pay the money is the question. My mate had a set of 19's made for his Ultima Can Am at a bargain cost of £2900/set - that might be a sharp intake of breath but when you think that a used OE set go for £1200-odd and a set of Croms are over £2k it doesnt seem that much of a stretch. I have seriously considered selling both my Croms and OE Ph2 18's to fund a set of (whatever I want), just not brave enough to take the leap just yet lol (and yes, they will do any offset, even the crazy V6 ones)

If That's true someone needs to have a word with Reno, its these cars that help make and keep Reno known, at least let the owners keep them going by supporting parts issue.

Found the old thread about OZ remaking the wheels on the forum’s Facebook page.

The problem is finding the person who has a connection with middle/high management in Renault France.

Dead end from my side. I don’t know anyone in Renault Australia and Australia won’t have much influence in Renault HQ in France.

The best hope is that whatever the contract between OZ & Renault, it will expire sometimes soon.
