POS to my delight (R.I.P)
right ok everyone no's i want a valver wont shut up about it blah blah blah you no the rest, well i was bidding on a chammy in wales that i won by second chance but for reasons (namely blagging the bids up!)
checked the bay today and came across a green valver with a large dent in the passenger side, have seen his car sat outside a hairdressers for a few years now and always like the look of it as it was always in the mintest of conditions.
went on abit of a mission to contact the seller (which i still haven't  ) found out it was at a local garage only about a mile away so thanks to Ben (BenLewisMav-in his green valver
) i got up there to take a look,
Car was unlocked when we got there so i set about checking it out, apart from the dent in the wing, there is a few scratches on the bumper, laquer missing from the roof and the rear window rubber trim is missing :? , checked all round the car and theres was no visable rust that i could see
right some piccys of the beast :-
inside the car was a state uncleaned and just messy, parcel shelf has gone door speaker covers gone there is the usual bad drivers seat, the car has also done over 100k when the ad said only 98!
under the hood came as no surprise as halfway through us looking at the car a man came over to see what we were doing and after a bit of a chat he said how he had only serviced this car himself and how he had worked with Renault for 18yrs and also genral Renault nut (with a mint williams 3), he sid he could print off what work the garage had ever done on this car from the first day of it arriving in the garage, bit his hand off and ended up with eight A4 pages of service history (£4032.1
for the last 50k odd miles and the rest of the RSH for all work before
car also had £193 spent on it last month getting it mot ready but seller bought another car before so this one became surplus
so after chatting to the said sound gezzer he got on the phone to the seller and put forward my offer of £350 after abit of umm and arrr's he decided to sell it i went to go get a deposit and came back to take pics and tax was gone! hummm funny how before it had 6months! so i said i dont want it keep it and without much fuss i got the 6months tax aswell (mainly as it was advertised with it) deal was struck deposit paid and now going to pay full tomorrow and collect car
also thanks to Ben we went to scrappies and got
2x ph 2 indicators
1x dizzy
1x green wing (£10)
2x speaker grills
wing i will pay for rest was donated to the cause!
so all in all i reakon a result it cost me £350 to buy and £10 to make look half decent

ok so i got my beast this back to base after a kangroo ride home i set about fixing the problems which were :-
1st noticed that the oil pressure sender wasnt working oil level does
2nd was the obvious missfire under load
3rd the dent!
4th the plip and reciver cover
5th the boot lock
6th no parcel shelf or sterio
7th speaker covers
8th drivers side indecator
9th no water pump relay
10th bottom water pipe of expansion bottle leaking
11th 5th injector unplugged
this is how she looked when i got home
so at home 1st off came the coil wire to the dizzy which was corroded as a mo fo so i cleaned it and all the others on the dizzy, started and it was still there.. next up i thought water in the plugs as there is no sheild under the bonnet why?!? i dont no  but there is a red strap and a lot of silicone under the sparkplug cover  anyway out they came and a load of water in each of the four holes!! thanks to Ben who sucked it out with straws (big thanks you numpty  )
there was at least a inch of water in each hole so after i was taken out a dried and now the car runs like a dream
went to breakers to get a wing and ended up with a plip and reciver and boot look complete with key went to my mates to collect my sterio and parcel shelf with 6x9's
within a matter of seconds of getting home the wing was changed boot lock fixed with a clip and a new rubber (the other clip was inside the boot so a case of laziness i think :lol
and i fitted a air filter, and this time it will be better than standard as the rubber pipe to the box was ripped in two twice  i replaced the pipe and job done in seconds
also put reciver and tried the pilp all doors lock result!
only prob now is the drivers side window is well slow and it has a dodgy switch
and i need to take a look at the engine mounts or driveshafts as it doesnt feel nice in first
so after all that i thick or whats cost so far £360 including car and parts im laughing
and mals i have the orignal car mats (well at least i think they are :lol
there shapped to fit and with renault wrote on them
and some more pics of the beast as it stands now after day 1
wing fitted inc RT badge for those traffic lights
air filter fitted
whole car
mine and bens side by side

ok here are my new items added today 1st i sorted the front end out with a new N/S indicator
and also so it didnt feel left out the rear with a sticker
also getting a nice momo steering wheel which is a tad smaller than the renault one and also nicer to touch
yesterday i finally got it off the ground and it seems lower than all my others case the jack wont fit at all underneath
after i got it up i started to look around to what could be causing the nasty feedback through the wheel from the N/S, first i checked round wheel, if you spin it there is a grinding sort of noise, hummm checked 1 CV and that was fine so up came the hood to see the other, fine aswell, but when i was feeling around it the drive shaft is really loose (can push and pull it around) and is noisy, so im guessing this is the prob so bugger i have to buy a new driveshaft i thought, but no i found one closer to home (ashys spares department :lol
a nice shinny as new for a non abs car N/S driveshaft result!!!
only problem is now is that i have a broken wheel lock key (thanks last owner!!
) and i have no socket that 30mm todo the hub nut!! doh!! so im waiting till later when my mate gets here with the tools
apart from that i am doin a yellow strut brace and doing my spare cam cover dark green, also on the weekend i am gona be de-greasing the engine as best as i can and giving it a once over with a pressure washer..
(any pointers welcome!!) also i think i will be changing the plugs and leads as im not getting what i want in the low down revs..
i also need the drain thingy that goes below the vent as i dont have one and its getting to be rainny again so if you have a spare let me no
more pics soon

ok more progress more of a case of this had to be done straight away
this morning i noticed a rather large patch of oil under the drivers side of the car
so opened the bonnet up and oil was all over the bonnet, cam cover, strut and brace aswell as alot of other places (namely the floor and the wish bone driveshaft and block
) so i decided it must be the rocker cover gasket so i got one for £8 at a local factors aswell as a big bottle of oil
started pulling the leads out and they were soaking in a black watery liquid
unbolted the covers and when i lifted the rocker cover off discovered that a quarter of it had vanished somehow  and 3 out off 4 plug wells were full of oil :? so i guess that was the problem for sure!
anyways cleaned everything up put beter red seals on the rocker cover de-greased most of the top of the engine also tightened the bolt up on the end of the fuel rail as it was leaking! (one of fifth injector also fifth injector was un-plugged when i got the car :? ) filled the car with oil again, screwed the screw back up tight on top of the tb it ran like a bag of poo so i took the air filter pipe off and sprayed a shed load of carb cleaner in and all over the tb and held the revs quite high as i done it let it settle and now she ticks on a nice 900rpm insted of between 1000 and 1100rpm,
also fitted a aux water pump relay a drain sheild for under the bonnet vent with dodgy home made mod (came of a ph1 :lol
all i want todo now is change the cam belt quick time as its covered in oily crap :? and also get some new leads and plugs nd do a water system flush and oil change aswell as i still need to sort the track rod end
[break]
this is todays progress i have changed the central locking pump in the drivers door as it was not working, tommorow i will be going to the scrappys to get a iggy barrel and pass side and boot lock so i have a full lock set with one plip and one key
door stripped
old central locking pump (with everything still attatched)
new pump (on its own)
i also sorted the window out by changing the switch as it was dodgy and cut out in different places now it fully goes up and down via the one click
button
(i also stripped a motorcycle down before i started its also over 30 degrees outside yay me!!
)
[break]
sorted some small problems out yesterday namley cleaning out my iscv, tb all pipes expansion bottle - pipes, rad and flush out what i can... also cleaned as much oily crap away from my engine and bay as poss (carb cleaner-hot engine-pressure washer)
tried to fit my new iggy barrel aswell but as some numpty has fitted a imobo they ave cut one yellow wire and one orange wire so i think i will let my auto electriction buddy sort that un for me....
fitted a proper 16v drivers side window wiper as the other was to long and just plain poo....
and the funniest point was when some one came over and sked if i wanted some spares, why i asked? o because i cant get my car to start its like the imobo is stuck on ad engine check lght was flashing ... took a look and he was bumming over the cobra alarm and imobo... just pliped it doors shut un-plipped and said bump it... started straight away... so was gona be scrapped for nothing!!!
[break]
first things first thanks to renault for building such a car as my valver!!
went all the way up and down the M5 and M6 fine friday (except the blowing exhaust and bouncy tacho) did usual motorway speeds for hours but come satuarday morning it was running like a lumpy bag of shite, misfiring and cutting out and genrally taking the piss! i put it down to the really heavy rain we had the night before but nothig was wet under the bonnet or in the plug wells :? but my number 4 lead had a slit in it so i thought better to buy some new ones as i have been putting it off lol..
put al 5 new leads on then the car ran sweet for about five minutes then started misfiring even worse and sounding really ruff! so after a good head scratch i thought best to ask the one called CH all i got in response was ignition module and so i changed it... never had time to test drive it so i left it in the hands of the gods but it worked as should straight away this morning so the mrs could get to work...
BIG THANKS CH
also some pics of the beast on the beach...
last is my fav still need to sort the rear arch,
car is also for sale for decent offers, basically i want my 350 back car is T&T and had abit of money spent in the short while ive had it and is sound as far as 19s go

update time
i done quite a bit recently i have changed both door locks, changed the door cards and speaker grills (to the ones with just tiny holes) also changed the passenger side mirror (as at 70mph it flapped in the wind)
also put the boot install out of the spare 19 (ready for a amp and nice 10'' sub
)
also changed the exhaust system from the down pipe back which includes de-catted cat (off spare car alreay bashed through) the centre section from the spare car and also changed the back box for some un-named 2 half inch (magnex i think from the common tag with just numbers) stainless, done the handbreak aswell while i was there (spot on too
)
also planned for the nex few days is a new boot, new front bumper new back bumper and passenger side side skirt then i think she should be sorted with a new arch (thanks NEXTEK YOU WANKERS!!) and then that and the roof re-sprayed then shes nearly mint
if thats sorted soon then thats it ive had enough time for its MOT and up for sale!!
few pics,
dead box
empty cat
new back box
new back box fitted
standard box is going on ebay so if someone wants it now say, it was brand new on the 17/5/06 @ a cost of £104.88  so grab a bargn as i dont want it

well after all that work i took it out tonight and the box has now died
3rd gear has gone 2nd is not the best for ware all round pisstake really!!
and after i sold a box today!!
well now thats the next on the list and should be sorted by next week as i have already sorted what is said to be a wicked box
fingers crossed!!
right its been nearly to weeks now since my foking gearbox decided life with me was so bad it self destructed!! i have since got another box off astrojohn (cheers buddy
) i have missioned on (with help from a pro, many thanks!!) to get the new box in, box code JB3051 is said to be a phase 1 19 box and ment to be quicker than the phase 2 (i hope). i have also changed the stat done the oil filter changed the aux water pump and relay (for known to work items) flushed as much crap out the system as i could (expect there will be more crap in there aswell when its run abit  ) battered as much shite as i could out the expansion bottle as i could, i wouldnt say it was clean but at least the limescale is gone and you can see in through the side
filled the lump up with oil (3.5 litres and still wanting! :? ) and done the box oil (2 litres and still wanting :?)
one dodgy thing is the back mount bracket that goes to the back mount had the bolt through the mount but no nut!! i think that between the two mounts thats what mainly contributed to the gearbox failure :? as it must of really been thrown about in there i spect thats why it cut out and juddered and had dodgy steering feedback! so hopefully all will be sorted now
anyway pics
no gearbox  it came out the top (for disbelivers i have a video!
)
fooked rear mount
recycled 'new' rear mount
the service items (new box oil, 15/40 engine oil, oil filter, some carb cleaner and coolant)
also got a new spark plug as mine has the grills filled with selant and sits wrong
also painted a strut that had been dangling on the balcony in primer for months black, and still waiting for my ecu and iggy module covers and started polishing a cam cover up
not finished yet but if the rain holds off tomorrow she will be alive!!
cant wait loves it
ok she is fixed albit that 3rd and 4th is still abit stiff but it will be ok as its wouldnt go in any gear when we were testing if it changed at all, its ok now just needs some un-seizing
also fitted my ecu cover and iggy module cover my strut i painted back to a glossy black again aswell as a 'clean as i could get' expansion bottle and last but not least the spark plug cover
well happy now
it done 130mph in 5th before i backed off and still wanted to go more
it was also 5 up
before it done 130 at a push more a struggle but 5th is now like 4th i loves it
i think its a bit more pokey through the gears to but its impossible to tell...
[break]
done some more today had rust round my badges and some below the drivers side rear light i took the badges right off so i could move more in stealth and clean up the rear abit (i no you wont like it but i do
)
pics
it started to spit with rain so i didnt finish the boot (lil spots are rain) i didnt bother to try and fill/rebuild the gap as my dad has still got the N reg 19 at his so im robbing the strip off that to save time, also he is gonna re-build my arch so i can get that sprayed aswell as my roof and the rest detailed then i prob whack 12months on it in the next monthor so and sell it!
under light rust
little bit more done today after my wash out yesterday i have now done some laqure'n on the boot blending it all in together i will leave a week or so and wet'n'dry and polish it up to a better finish
also done another de-badged grill as i liked the one on RLY and its one of the most pleasing stealth mods you can do
getting there slowly few more things left now
pile of shite to my delight!! for all the doubters!!

it started to spit with rain so i didnt finish the boot (lil spots are rain) i didnt bother to try and fill/rebuild the gap as my dad has still got the N reg 19 at his so im robbing the strip off that to save time, also he is gonna re-build my arch so i can get that sprayed aswell as my roof and the rest detailed then i prob whack 12months on it in the next monthor so and sell it!
under light rust

little bit more done today after my wash out yesterday i have now done some laqure'n on the boot blending it all in together i will leave a week or so and wet'n'dry and polish it up to a better finish

also done another de-badged grill as i liked the one on RLY and its one of the most pleasing stealth mods you can do

getting there slowly few more things left now
