Porsche involvement with ph2?

Hi.
Not sure if this has been covered before on the forum.
Was wondering if there`s any truth in Porsche involvement in developing phase 2?
Saw this on wiki v6 page and wondered if true.
The Renault Clio V6 Renault Sport is a hot hatch based on the Renault Clio launched in 2001. Designed by French automaker Renault the Phase 1 models were built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing and Phase 2 were designed and helped by Porsche and built by Renault Sport in Dieppe.
Cheers
Joel

All quite true. The V6 engine was given to Porsche Engineering to extract more power, achieved mainly in the head and manifold areas. This resulted in a 255bhp unit.

To my knowledge Porsche only helped extract more performance from the Phase 2 engine, including engine management. The gearbox is from a Kangoo van.

The casting on the Phase 2 intake manifold is terrible, so best is to get ported and matched.

Think you will find it is a Trafic gearbox which is bad enough!! Kangoos are 5 speed JR5 boxes, only top 110hp diesel has 6 speed TL4, Vees use PK6-012 or -017 boxes
;)

Ah, I stand corrected Simon - knew the gearbox was from one of the Renault vans.

Lets have a bit of a plug for the Scottish and Oxfordshire input to the Clio V6. It was TWR who developed the road cars, both Ph1 and Ph2, so a considerable amount of Brit know-how went into the cars. And didn't Lotus tweek the suspension for the ph2?.....so a bit of Norfolk as well!

Throw in Axel from Germany and we are really getting a very interesting pedigree, dont think it would stand up too well at Crufts
