yeah 27 miles it took everythings been ok since

Visited Renault and checked coil prices and it was over £55 including VAT. Went to a local GSF and they had two in stock (which i wanted as spares) and paid £50.76 in total. Just need to buy the rest of the kit socket ratchet etc. Not quite sure what I need looking at the coil guide in Knowledge. Would helpful if someone could clarify it. Thanks:)

i'm on 70,000 miles and not had one go yet :)

thats tempting fate saying it mate!!

It does appear the more you drive it, the less likely coil failures are.

Pot luck I think Duncan.... mines on almost 70k and i've had 5 coils go! Lol

Tempting fate I know but at least I am ready for it!! haha!! To be honest with all the car shows and a trip round europe coming up I would rather be prepared for the worst than to drive round hoping nothing happens!

My first one went the other day as i just left for work... Pulled out of my rd and accelerated a bit harder than i usually would on a cold engine as there was a truck coming, sure enough the light started to flicker then the engine note went off beat. Hadn't gone far so did a 5 point u turn (as you do) and headed home and fixed it. Lucky it was one of the coils on the front facing bank so didn't have to remove the intake, warning light went straight off and has been fine so far, apart from flickering once more since then.

From what I can gather they really do not like being stressed when cold or damp! Got another replacement from EuroCarParts for £27.44 with free delivery, but an expensive lesson to learn. So behave while the engine isn't up to temperature!

You are probably right Grant. I had two coils go on me the first and only time literally a mile from my house! Floored it no acceleration so pootled back home. At that time dec 08 no idea v6clio.net existed so got Renault to fix it and it cost over £300!! Only just saw the invoice and couldnt believe it!! So naive back then lol!!
