Plaque type?

So was digging in my history folder and found a metal plaque in a wee bag.

Same number as my car but I was wondering,

I have seen there was metal plaques for sale on the site but did renault actually supply metal ones with the car? I have a sticker type fitted and think the metal one looks better but don't want to drill into my console if its not meant to be there.

Anyone answer my question,
Cheers.

Metal plaques were removed at the import centre in UK replaced by plastic moulded ones numbered 1 - 354

Previous owner of #111 Mr renaultalpine probably bought one of the metal copies that Steve had made and sold via the forum some time ago.

Steve, you will find holes under the stick on plaque ;) But do you really want to remove it????
Chances are it will get damaged when removing it.....( removed a couple now from damaged vees  )

Renault removed the metal plaques during importing to UK and replaced them with the UK stick on ones.
Have got a few of the removed origionals ;)

Ok, so better just leave the sticky one on.

Russo, why does it not surprise me, finger in every pie so to speak!

Out of interest, why did they remove them? Only thing I can think of is a increased costs of removal and make of of new plaques, no sense at all!

I have just found a thread explaining why so no need to write why, it wouldn't be to easy to give a short reply haha.

Sticky to stay!

Will just screw to metal one onto my tool box or something .

Cheers guys.

So my metal plaque is a replacement for original? We're they all removed at import? Or was it just phase 2s?

If you search for "Another 'plaque' thread..." by Kett it tells the story from Renault, informative thread, I did search but never found it until after I asked haha.

Leave it as it is Matt.. lol The ph1 and ph2 cars have a different story behind their plaques all together.

I knew that the new plaques that were made would cause even more confussion!!!

Best thing that can possibily happen is no one touches the plaques ever again! :ihatpcs:

Agreed!

At the end of the day, anyone with a non UK plaque is probably going to dis-credit their UK car. With the odd exception that we know about in the register.

I don't understand why people discredit them for the import reason or a slight differences when they left sweden or dieppe. If its a factory handbuilt Clio V6 as it left the factory then happy days.

Sorry, I did limit the sale of metal replica plaques to the owners of the cars with that actual number on there car.

It was all overseen by James in a small big brother way, did refuse to sell to a couple of people as there cars did not have a original plaque fitted.

The reason I had them made is they look so much better, also some people had 3 made so could fit one each side on the engine covers as well.

Anyway have the last un-numbered one for sale as it's no use to me, it was the prototype one, for sale under non car items. Just to upset someone

PS it will not go on EBay. :)

Merry Christmas.

Steve
