Pistonheads top hot hatch poll

10 will do I reckon. Still raises the profile of the Vee.
I can't say I really see our cars as a hot hatch; far too classy.

Surprised at No.1 too, awesome cars of course, but not a 1st place. Also, not sure the Mk1 Focus should be placed, even though it is obviously a very capable machine. But not so far ahead of the Series 1 Escort Turbo.

Maybe it's an age thing (I'm nearing 40), but I'd have given it to the Mk2 GTi or Pug 1.6 GTI.

Ha, thought I'd have a read through the relevant forum thread on PH, seems people are pointing fingers at the owners club voting the Vee in.

As ifffffffffff, you freaks. Plus, can't imagine our such low numbers having much effect on a poll.

Fully agree. So what if we did vote for our car. Isn't pistonheads a forum for car enthusiasts? I do like reading pistonheads but there are some very bitter people on there who takes car criticism too personally. Its good to read the posts attached to the thread as the vee does cause a bit of a stirr. Added my bit to represent!! [smilie=yay.gif]

Just seen it. Are we a hot hatch? I'm not sure personally. But yeah, funny how people get so wound up about it. Get a life

Hi all,
As a past owner of the Delta Evo 2 a car that I loved and had great performance I cannot see it as a number 1 hot hatch, the down side for me was that it was left hand drive. A good car but not number 1.

Nigel.

It seems nostalgia plays a big part in these tests.

I'd wager a 182 Trophy/R26R would be top if they were 20 years old.

Let's get a rain check in here. Who voted vee?

Not me!

Me neither. I'm not really sure the Vee fits into this category... I'm thinking 4 seat, FWD.

I go on PH quite a lot, never even seen this pole so I didn't vote.

Williams should definetly be in front of the 205!!

I may have said Vee in my excitedness of about to get one, but also put the Trophy, R26.R and a few others in there, think you could put 5 on from memory.

For me the best all round hot hatch was the Clio 200, drives fantastically but can perform family duties. The Trophy was just a tad too small, buggy couldn't fit in boot

I'd never view a Vee as a hot hatch [smilie=icon_eek.gif] or an Integrale and Escort Coworth for that matter, to me hot hatch means front wheel drive and very "chuckable", if I'd have seen the poll I'd probably have voted for the 1.9 205GTI which I drove for 9 glorious years :race:

How the hell did the lard ass mk2 golf get up there!! Lol Some of the cars listed are just laughable. Scooby Sti?? Come off it! That will be in the next "best saloon car" poll I bet. I reckon hot hatches should be defined by a mixture of wheelbase, number of doors and boot configuration. If the escort cossie, sti and other barges are wanting a punt at the tittle where the audi ur quattro, quattro sport and S2.

Cossie got in on the C segment requirement and the fact it's got a hatch, just like the intergrale. The Audi stuff falls out at the C segment part.
