PIC'S REQUEST please

Hi guy I'm hoping some of you guys can help me, can some of you take a pic's of your panels how they are finish off, where they have been stuck to the panels behind the fiber glass / plastic extensions, I have a phase 1 & 2 sat on my drive at the moment and the finishing off between both is unbelievable, I remember on the launch pointing this out to the reno guy's
the phase 2 has nicely finished of panels where the phase 1 is sh1t, have you guy's done anything to yours to make them how you would expect them to be or just put up with them as that's how the left these factory's, ie TWR or RENO

I would just like some pic's of both 1 and 2's if you guys would help me out

thanks

As the guys have posted above, the knowledge base is a valuable source of information and I referred to it many times when stripping the panels off my vee

thanks guy's I searched for age's but couldn't find any thing, thanks

Ali I wish I could afford to collect them. the first one I came on here with was the silver grill's one, which is going back home ( to France next week) but then after owning that one I decided I want one to keep and this phase 1 has come along, I would have loved to keep the ph 2 as it is my dream one to own (liquid yellow) but I made a little on it, so I had to let it go, but it made me fall in love with the clio's again which to be honest, I never thought that would happen again after having a few bmw M3's and gold R32 mk5 (all a lot newer than the v6 ) I always said to my self when buying a new car it should be newer as well as a new car, but I will one day get another ph2 at some point but in the mean time I'm keeping this ph1 I've now got, but compared to the ph2 the panel fit is totally shi7 compared to the other ph2 and I wanted to now if any of you guy have the same and if you have had them smoothed and painted or just put up with it the way it come's, I'm very fussy with my cars and I'm not to sure if I can live with this the way it is,Or will i devalue it by having this done,, cheers all

My Mk I was formerly owned by TimV6. You might be able to do a search on his posts to delve deeper...

He cited an incident where his Vee was keyed by some mindless tw4t. As part of the insurance repaint - he commissioned the seam welding of the panels to achieve the finish of a Mk II.

The bonding around the rear panels isnt the same standard on a mk1 as it is on a mk2, but i wouldnt go as far to say it was shit and its totally acceptable! Some have lost there finish over time though.

I wouldnt of thought that a mk2 type finish would affect value on a phase one, however if you smooth it all, it doesnt look quite right and may put people off!! (its been it done on a silver trophy).

thanks Kett the other links don't help me much, I want some photos of other models where the body-kit meets the panels, on the ph2 they are smoothed in and on the ph1 they are crap and don't even look like they where made correctly and have gaps

thanks all

Have you entered your Vee details into the register? Click here to enter your

it maybe has lost a bit of it finish around the edges, they just don't sit flush or smooth up to the doors or paint work if you no what I mean, not so much smoothed in but nicely finished off

I am confused? I thought it was a Iliad you owned with silver grills? What number was the liquid yellow car you are selling to France?

Keep up Mossy!
The Iliad has been sold to France. An iceberg has been bought as a keeper (probably until a LY is on the cards).
In the meantime, some foibles of the Mk I are starting to grate...

Another one, will a ph2 rear 1/4 or door fit a ph1 ????

Best bet is to ignore the quirks until next spring. Get yourself to some meetings and compare finishes on yours with other Mk I's before trying anything too extreme.
If you look hard enough at any MK II - the petrol cap is usual misaligned and the wheels won't fill the arches evenly...

I'm with Duncan too, although I'm obviously biased. Those quirks are what he mk1 is all about for me, if that bothered me enough to spend money sorting I'd probably consider buying a mk2.
