Phase 2 gearbox prices.

74V6

New Member
Hi guys. Looking a bit of help if anyone is up for it.

I've a noisy phase 1 gearbox, also not good going across the gate. I think, correct me if I'm wrong , that phase 2 gearbox is the way to go with better gear ratios and shorter/better shift action?

What price should I expect to pay for a second hand phase 2 gearbox? It's as is just out of the car. 40, odd k miles.

What price is Renault for a new or reconditioned gearbox?

Lastly, what are the identifying features specifically for the V6 rather than for applications?

Much thanks in advance!

Pk12-017 is ph2. They are approx £2k from Renault if they still have any. I've got a fully reconditioned ph2 box and also a ph1 with 24k on it if you need a choice ..

EEE007 has gone quiet on me.

Anyone else any PH2 V6 gearboxes. Happy for a cheaper one needing reconditioning or a reconditioned box with supporting evidence.

Thanks in advance.

What happened to your old gearbox? Is it for sale?

Daniel

Never had a gearbox for sale Daniel, just pointed out the reply was sooo quick earlier in the post.

I reckon less than 5 ph2 gearboxes have changed hands in the last 10 or so years in 2nd private sales. Prices are whatever the buyer and seller agree - probably more than its actually worth. Second hand availability is basically zero.

Have you heard from EEE007? If you really want one, your best bet may be offering him an armful of cash to persuade him to sell?

Aside from that, keep your ears to the ground, or await for a ph2 to show up in a breakers.

I'd just go for another ph1 box, the difference between them isn't worth the extra cost. You can prob pick up a ph1 box for 3-400 notes if you can find one. Might be worth dropping an email to SG Motorsport, John Price & Mark Fish incase they have one laying around?

Seems like the seller comes recommended by a member: RSC Europe

I've used these guys. You would not believe the size of the place, spread over multiple huge sites. I spent a 4-figure sum with them and they let me go do the "American Pickers" thing there. They charge strong money IMO but it's a handy place to have reference to.

I snapped a couple of pics, this is about 1/4 of one of the sub-sites away from the main one. Most of the older stuff is here, with newer generation at the main, newer site. It's *the* most Renault stuff I have ever seen in my life, and i've seen a LOT. Those orange racks go back about 30m and are up to the roof.

Thanks for the updates.

EEE007 no longer responds. I though I had a deal with him but maybe he just likes to look at it.

I didn't think there was much point in reconditioning my box as the PH2 is supposed to have better ratios and selectors?
That's why I'm looking for one.
