What is that exhaust with "machine gun-like exhaust pipes"?

What is the story with the 'Signature' moniker and Quaife close-ratio gearbox (didn't know that Quaife had anything to do with the Vee's gearbox)?

He means ID and not signature. As in the colour was an ID option.

The gearbox has closer ratios than the ph1 it is being compared too.

Lovely car & very tidy. I had a good look over it at Prescott last year and it was in bloody good nick (but yes it did rain!)

Just needs a standard backbox, new tyres and the cambelt doing ASAP and your good to go.

Great set of photos and the car does look very good, as it should.
I'm always surprised by just how carefully the seam sealer was applied in the factory, looking like it was put on with a trowel! Mine was exactly the same, but folks not used to seeing this in the Vee could be excused for thinking the car had been repaired by a kid after a front end shunt.

Didn't change the 15 year old cam belts 'cos he wanted it to be new for as long as possible....says the garage owner.
I'll try and remember that one if I'm selling a non-maintained car.LOL

15 year old Pilots, scary, nearly a guaranteed visit to the undergrowth!! Particularly with a now worryingly old cam belt!! Seems a bit of a cheapskate using excuses for not actually doing the work needed, what else has been avoided and compromised.. :rofl:

Agree, I much prefer the 'Signature' moniker than its ID namesake - sounds more sophisticated and befitting the Vee.

Looks a great example, but a real shame that [v6plaque]304[/v6plaque] hasn't had the level of maintenance one would have expected.

I’m on the fence with this - I can’t second guess.

Is it more desirable than a £50k new A110? Arguably ‘Yes’.

Does it need some expenditure to correct the foibles? Yes

Is there going to be some 2020 realignment of the collectable car values? Probably.

It certainly represents a rare opportunity into coveted LY 255 ownership. Hope it goes to a good home.

Im going with 48-50k sale price.

I wouldn’t go above £40-44k as too many unknowns and weak service and maintenance history, needs some serious sorting and money spending to make it worth the magic £50k, hopefully some who understands what they are buying gets it and sorts it out :approve:

Yeah possibly > Maybe the colour / 1 owner & miles superseeds the few negatives.. Budgeting 2.5-3k on top of purchase woukd be a start point plus grtting rid of the max power exhaust.

So, the sole owner 'undertook an exhausting search to secure one in this colour.' I didn't find it too exhausting to drive over to Renault Dealer, Bridges of Newbury where it was sitting proudly in their showroom unregistered, a couple of months before registration on 15/06/2005. Whilst I liked the car I didn't want to pay the new car price.
Presumably the sole owner saw it some time after but then wanted to wait for a 55 plate on 1st Sept. Fair enough.

Amusing that the American link reports that the owner 'optioned' the car with so many of what most UK owners would say were standard spec items, including 'most interestingly' RHD, lol.

Regardless, I hope it does 'fetch an exorbitant amount of money.' Looking forward to following the auction.
