Hello the back box is looking rather tatty these days as it's the mild oem jobby and not stainless. Is it possible to just get some silver high heat resistent paint to slap on it?

I thought I read somewhere that someone was going to or actaully did use hammerite?

I haven't got around £500 for an aftermarket one right now, so I rather treat my current one.

Cool, find seller on ebay for similar stuff but much cheaper, wonder of that's any good :s

you don't need al of that, just take a look here.

and then take a look at the "poliersatz Standard" at page 3.
i used it to and it works perfect. and not expensive at al. € 15.-
you can buy it at your local hobby store.

the rust stays away for a while.

Is that a mild steel box or stainless tho?

I didn't think mild would look like that after polishing it?

Looks real good tho ;)

this is the mild steel one.

i now have a stainless steel one from orbisoud :D
this one makes a much nicer sound than the standard one.

Awesome, i'll try ad get some of that stuff and polish it up.

Any sound clips of the Orbisoud?

Any pics of a polished up standard exhaust would be great, mines standard & the boxes look rubbish (in fact they're the only part of the car I don't like)

I'm not willing to pay out £500 for an aftermarket one, as what's on it is fine, just in need of a decent polish/clean up (when it's knackered i'll probs go aftermarket then)

I was thinking of just getting thicker mesh to cover them up, but if I can polish up the exhaust to make it look better i'll go with that idea [smilie=cool.gif]

I'm going to have a crack at spraying my stock one with high temp aluminium paint. Not sure hw it'll look but we'll see this weekend hopefully.

There is a mk2 box on ebay. My understanding was that the mk2 were stainless, so a bit of elbow grease and it could polish quite nice.

Maybe some1 else can confirm about the stainless tho.

rikie - have you got any pics of your exhaust after you polished it up ? As there's only the red corss on the screen.

Thanks.
