Phase 1 Engine Covers and Trims

New Member
Hi Guys

I Have a chance to get an engine cover and trim surround for my phase 1 as the previous owner removed all the engine trims.

I am conscious that I will need more than just the covers. How are they attached? From the Renault parts discription it looks as there are other little trims and connections needed for them to be attached?

You need everything in that picture. They are attached to corresponding holes in the car with many little screws.

Note that the picture you have shown above is only the inner covers. Another set of covers then sit on top of those which tidy it all up.

I think your only option here is to find a breaker and get the lot in one hit, you wont get the new items from Renault any more - absolutely no chance. It won't be cheap either, I reckon based on what I have bought lately you'd be lucky to get away below 4 figures!

I don’t understand... how can you have no engine covers?

They rarely become available these days. I’d be trying to buy a Perspex bulkhead and turning my Vee into a V6 Trophy lookalike, rather than an improbable wait for covers.

Bill Patchall had some aftermarket top covers fabricated in CF. I wonder if the mould used still exists?

It’s not so much the covers. It’s all the trims underneath that attach to the metal that needs to be there.

Have a search on Leboncoin Link I’m sure there was a set of inner covers and outer for sale by same seller listed not long ago.
A message to Bill Patchall may help get a set of outer covers made in either carbon or fibreglass. Sure it was Carbon Delight that made them Link
Happy hunting :approve:

Have a word with Scott at SG motorsport, you never know what he might have or know about :approve:

That’s a good idea. Scott had a good set of inner covers (which I bought). My toasted set are probably headed for the knackers yard. It might be that Rob could part use the toasted set.

Kett. You have a toasted set?

Yes... I didn’t really think about them - and am not sure exactly where the land lies... but my Ph1 inner covers took some fire damage a few years ago at Goodwood. I made a point of immediately acquiring a replacement set - but have done very little to move the project forward. The Ph1 lives at SGMotorsport’s HQ.

If my whole set is available; it will give you the basis of inner covers. I suspect 1 or 2 of the panels aren’t in great shape...

The fire was caused by a leaking auxiliary oil cooling line (non OEM). Luckily, a fire engine [emoji602] was on hand - so the damage was superficial.
The undertrays and the inner covers were worst off...

Thanks Kett. Let me know if you have any joy?

Hi Rob,

Not much joy for you I’m afraid.
It transpires that my inner covers were sawn in half (to accommodate the roll cage) before being toasted. They’re simply not fit for purpose.

I’d say that you’ve x3 reasonable options (apart from waiting very patiently for a set to magically present itself):

1. Chase up previous owners of your vehicle to find out the whereabouts of the inner covers. It makes no sense that they’ve simply disappeared. Find out where they are.

2. Ditch all the covers and fit a Perspex bulkhead ‘V6 Trophy’ style.

3. Have something fabricated from scratch and join up with Simon Hope’s (Rustedandrotten) mission to have a back catalogue of decent replacement parts.

Hi Kett

Thanks for trying mate. I already have the Perspex bulkhead as the previous owner did all that but removed everything and half the head lining. The car is well known on this forum. They have the rear covers but not the covers that go underneath.

Might have to sit tight.
