Hmmm.....I don't really agree. If things are done to the correct standard, in the right way and on the right car then I can't see it. Yans car pictured above is a lovely car, done well and to a good taste. Considering good ph1s are going for £8-9k I wouldn't expect to pay much less for it.
Well if you can get the parts free.. sprayed for free.. and fitted for free.. you'd still lose money on it! LOL
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say changing the front end adds value.
Colour wise, its swings and roundabouts. Bare in mind the vast majority of ph1s were silver and most of the blue ones are writen off, if someone wanted a ph1 in anything but silver then its the only option. Even though I had mine resprayed in Nocturne (Ribena) I still reckon the opitomy of all the V6 range regardless of phase, value or how rare is a ph1 in Iceberg. I just wanted a different OEM renault colour in a field full of silver so payed the price for it. However it might be the same price someone is willing pay when Pistonheads or Autotrader are only showing pages full of silver cars.
When you had your car done, it looked fantastic Brett. Side by side against a newly painted Iceberg though, and whether it was worth any more is very subjective. Deano's car, is it worth the same as did before it was sprayed..?
Si's car on the other hand is a one off.. not just because of the colour, but because of all the other things, time and money he's spent on it. Putting a price on that.. who knows, its a rather special car.
Let's face it, are Turbo 1 and 2's worth less with different colours and the right mods? No
