Peeling Steering Wheel

Has anyone else had this problem of the cover peeling off the steering wheel and if so any suggestions on changing it e.g. another renault model?

A couple of us here in Hong Kong have all got the same problem so not sure if its the humidity or just poor quality materials?

its very common on the sport steering wheels, even mk1's in england

its the rubber, it degrades with use, you can get the wheel replaced under warrenty.

my 182's started going after 30k.....i hve switched to an aftermarket wheel so i dont have the sameproblem on the vee, when a come to sell it.

Thanks for that - our cars are only Mk1's though so out of warranty.

We can get them repaired in China think its leather trimming for about 50 quid but takes a week with no steering wheel and not sure if leather is the best option for a steering wheel.

What after market one did you get and how much?

go for smaller sport wheels, like omp or momo, get alcantara clad ones, smalle wheels make a much more responsive drive IMO id never go back to the 'big' wheel after having a 310mm wheel

Common problem - if you use an after market wheel (no airbag) there maybe some problems - with modding the car in HK

Ok think I will go for a alacantra of the original one done in China - sounds like the best compromise.

Nick_D your in HK with a V6? I sent a PM but didn't hear back from you? Where are you based - there are 3 of us owning V6 Clios in Kennedy Town looking to meet up in the next few weeks if your interested and maybe you know some others here?

I have the same problem. Renault UK have said they will go 3 quarters to the replacement.
