Over-Sensitive Alarm

The alarm on my Mk2 V6 appears to have developed a mind of its own! Sometimes it behaves itself, then will go off for no apparent reason. I seem to remember my old Espace doing this, and the garage turned down the sensitivity. Does anyone on here know how this can be done on the V6?

I need to find a solution, cos I think I'm starting to annoy the neighbours.

I'm sure I've read that it's a dash off job to get to the unit. So in short, a bottle of wine for the neighbours might be cheaper and easier.

Look at the manual.

for a start shut all vents that with luck will cure the problem.

Does it go off when you use a micro-wave - second problem

Thirdly have you a spider in the car. This can set it off as well

Thanks for that. Not sure about spiders inside, but there are definitely a few hiding in my wing mirrors! Little bastards keep making webs when I'm not looking.

My alarm alarm has gone of twice since I have had the car which is only 4 days, is there any way it can be made less sensative.
It went off when a lorry went past, then the next day when a boyracer went past in a loud Saxo!
edit; just looked at the other thread and seems thats normal!
well at least its not going off in the middle of the night like my 106 did!

I had exactly the same problem (alarm going off mainly with passing traffic at work). Was told to turn the ignition off and on 3 times before locking the car. You hear 3 beeps as you lock it and this disables the internal sensors. Problem cured.
