Old guy looking to join up

Hi guys, joined up as decided I need one these as a toy having given up bikes a short while back. My daily is a c5 RS6 as don't use a car much (train to work etc) and that's brilliant but always liked the Mk2 V6 so at the tender age of 44 it's time! [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Budgets a little restrictive but am willing to wait and happy to get one needing a little tlc or spannering as good at both.

Insurance cost is largely dependant on location... I pay £500 for mine. And I'm 27. Was over a thousand when I got it at 22.
 
Welcome Roger. Thy are fab cars and u won't regret it. Loads of helpful info In our knowledge base about potential things to look out for when buying one. Few members on here are selling up too so maybe worth a look :approve:
 
:welcome: Roger. Good luck in your hunt. Not many Vee's for sale at the mo and prices are quite steep. Things usually improve towards the summer with more examples about and prices a bit more realistic!!

C5 RS6s are brilliantly mental cars. I would have had one over my RS4 if it weren't for the fact that they're auto only and, allegedly, a fragile auto at that. What power is yours running?

Your username rings a bell. You're not connected to the LSV8 Power saga are you? If so, you have my sympathies!!! Don't worry I'm not a stalker, just spent a lot of time researching how to get more power out of Monaro and VXR8 engines and the issue was fairly well documented on the forums!!

Yep I'm the one who got screwed over by LS V8 Power a few years ago after they messed up the only Vxr600 Monaro ever built by VX. History now though but still remember how 635hp feels like [smilie=yay.gif]
Yes the RS6 box has a bad rep and I've got money set aside for a new uprated box if mine dies, it's a little unjustified tbh as the problem is the normal sealed for life crap and the fact the car throws out some serious torque from no revs so insensitive owners hit the go button to soon without warming up. A now gone mate of mine ran 750hp through these boxes and was fine so they can't be all bad. RS4 is a nice car, almost got one B4 the Ro but it was a little smooth and tame for my liking if I'm honest, then again they have issues with carbon buildup so all decent cars seem to have problems.
I'm in no rush and won't pay ott so happy to wait as you suggest.
 
Why do you think I call myself v6veteran - I regret I am not talking about the car! Is there any owner out there older than 67 ??!! On the other hand, my (phase 2) V6 is still quite young - now just hit nineteen (thousand). I think we make a good match .
