OBD 2 Auto scanner reader from Ebay

Just got this clever bit of kit through the post today.....plugged her in and got an error code P0771 (OBDII Generic DTC Definition)......Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance.......anyone know what the hell this means.......the SERV light is on and has been for weeks.

The reader can erase previous and present codes. That was thed only one. I tried to erase it but it keeps coming on and the SERV light is still on so there must be a problem with whatever sensor it is?

Doubt that......gearbox is fine......seemingly! Its a sensor of some kind fault in the transmission system?

my gosh, I hope you didnt spend more than £100 on parts and did it all yourself!

I was simply pointing out in the other thread that you can service the Vee yourself if you know how to and thus saving yourself some money.

No need to loose it....

Mine's out of warranty so yes it makes sense for me to have it serviced/maintained by somebody other than Renault...

I believe my code is the american translation for Coolant temp sensor which John has kindly shown me a diagram for...

Renault checked the car out with their CLIP computer and it was showing no codes errors or faults.
 
Did you have the engine running when reading the code??

Just wondering as I had a code until the engine was started.
 
No I have never turned the engine on.....should I? I assumed when it said to turn on the igntion it just meant turn on the battery power?
 
Blast from the past....

I am still getting this error code and my Service light is still on and always has been...

Anybody have any suggestions?
