number of owners

Does a high number of previous owners effect values of these little beasties or is generally a case of buy on condition?

Been offered a px on a car with 10 previous owners [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Many Vees have a high number of owners due to the type of car that they are. By this I mean that they are (a) often an impulse buy, (b) unpractical and (c) the first thing to go when people's finances take a turn for the worse.

The number of owners shouldn't really be a factor. Condition, service history and mileage are king but if you have 2 identical models bar the number of owners then you'd always choose the one with the least.

If you're clever though, and are happy with the car, just use the number of owners as a bartering tool to get a great deal ;)

How old is the car? If it's an early Phase 1 then 10 owners doesn't surprise me.

Different things to different people.
I wanted a one owner from new, low mileage, mark 1 in silver and was willing to pay extra for it.

I doubt, despite it probably meaning nothing at all, I would ever buy any car that had ten owners.

10 owners is a lot of grubby mitts on a steering wheel, the chances of all 10 being fastidious careful enthusiasts is also slim,

What age / year is it? Vees do go through a few owners as said above

Its not the amount of owners you need to worry about its the condition at the time of purchase.

A full Renault service history is not always a good thing most Renault dealers are totally lost when it comes to looking after a Vee.

53 plate i think. 255 #133. Titanium with Recaro Trendlines, the one that had the manky red leather seats.

Mine had 8 owners when I got it ,but didn't put me of at all as i could tell it had been looked after and had tons of receipts and full service history .ive always said a 1 owner car could be a dog if it belongs to the wrong person,so many good owners isn't a problem. :approve:

As mentioned before, some have lots, some don't.

The 2 important things are Condition and History.
Mileage is firmly 3rd (only an Idiot thinks differently!).

This is assuming it's not a CAT C or D.

Better to have 9 people buying some things for the car in its lifetime, then 1 person never buying anything.

I saw YA53 WOB when driving past WSSC this weekend. Didnt stop, but looked pretty clean.

Its had more owners in the past year or so than any other car ive ever seen, wouldnt neccesarily put me off, but would make me ask why.

last time i saw it up close a couple of years ago, it was abosoltely immaculate, potential concours car.

On your way to Goodwood no doubt. Two others vees where there as well.

When I bought my last car it was a toss up between two, ended up buying the car with more owners because one of the owners owned twice (four before me).

A good car could have lots of owners because it's "a good car" or because folk can't get rid quick enough, hard to call.
