Nose Job

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about seeing my Vee when she's had her front end respray (hopefully by the end of this week). My car hasn't been in a prang but at 55k miles is now on her second front end respray. The previous job looks to have been carried out by Stevie Wonder. Uneven paint application, and a dreadful colour match that looks nothing like the rest of the car. Added to this the bonnet has suffered the common clio creasing around the latch area that makes it look like a fat b@stard has been posing for photos perched on the front of the car. It was a no brainer really... Fill and repair or new bonnet. At £160 for a new bonnet, I decided to go down this route. It wasn't worth paying the labour to have it filled, as it would always be on the back of my mind that the repair is still there.

The body shop is 'Impact' in Brighouse. They have done a lot of work for me in the past and are best known for their work on custom VW's and also Range Rover Overfinch conversions.

The only disaster so far was the replacement bonnet from RPD getting damaged by those muppet couriers from UPS who look to have chucked it around their warehouse. With all credit to Paul at RPD it will be refunded and sent back.

Here are a few shots of the car being prepped for painting:

How much Dan? In the long term mine needs a front end respray and would be good to have a rough figure to aim for. Plus they're not that far away and if they do a good job I know of another option :approve:

As a ball park they said between £500-600 (that was without the cost of the bonnet. But originally they were literally only painting the front end, now the whole n/s is being done (because I asked them to repair a ding on the door pillar and a few chips on the door) it will probably bump the price up a bit. I'll let you know the final cost when I get it back. It's worth it in the long run, as it was annoying me to look at the car with those dings in it, and the colour not being right on the front end.

You're getting as bad as me Dan!

I'm on to respray number 7 now! BOOM!

Im surprised you have a car left to spray. Surely the prep work (rubbing down etc) will have worn the bumper away by now ;)

On a serious note, looking forward to seeing the finished pics!

It will look super. I've found my first stone chip on the front of mine, following a front end respray by one of the previous owners.

Does anybody have any idea how much I could expect to pay for the roof, door and rear quarter panel? My car looks like it was subject to a poor repair job along the near side at some point.

Right, I got the car back a week or so ago, but the weather has been so crap I've struggled to grab some pics. It probably would have been a good idea to take some before and after pics!

But here are a few shots. Just to recap. They took the bumper off, repaired the underside (usual kerb clipping) flattened right back, primed and painted. New bonnet (old one was creased around the latch), repaired some chips to the passenger door and pillar, a dent specialist spent a whole day removing various dings out of the roof, and then they painted the whole of the front end, and down the n/s into rear quarter.

They have done a superb job. It was a fair bit more than originally quoted, but then they've done a lot more work. £1100 , but this included a brand new bonnet, labour, paint and the dent specialist. So I didn't think this was too bad.

The wheels just need a bloody good clean now! :-)

Looks a quality job Dan :salut:
In my experience you have to pay good money for quality work and if your happy with it that's all that matters.

thanks for the comments guys, the one thing that stands out for me is the accuracy of the colour, the previous front end repsray a previous owner had done, was an appalling colour match. it was nowhere near, so this is now perfect in my eyes. What its hilighted is the wheels are now the wrong shade of silver! so these will need doing next to get it bang on.
