No mpg or miles in tank

Anyone got any ideas how to get my car to display the mpg and miles in the tank? All I get are flashing dashes as I flick through the trip computer. I've tried a dash reset where you hold the end of the stalk as you fire it up but it hasn't worked.

Any other ways to see how we'll I'm doing trying to get my mpg as low as possible

I did the reset by holding in button on wiper stalk and then turning ign on , waited till tacho and speedo needles both went back to 0 after a few mins of "various out of sync moves" then pressed black long button on dash itself which resets it and you should then get mileage reading etc when you drive.
Above was only wag it worked for me.
There are other posts for this but not quite same process. Hope this helps

Did you press the button as the dials were moving?

No - when they both were back to 0 then pressed it as its done its full test cycle then
